Why should we be a Litterbug Nation?
Danny Lucas has developed a new ‘name and shame’ app aimed at taking on the litterbug culture in Great Britain. Danny enlisted the internationally renowned designer, Rob Janoff, to design the app signature identity.
The Littergram app is now free to download from the app store via link: www.littergram.co.uk
The App is simple and easy to use, based on a social media platform it allow users to take a picture of the litter, post a comment and tag its location as a litter hotspot. You can join forces with other likeminded Littergram users, follow them and share their uploads, you can also share it across your other social media like Facebook and Twitter. I felt that we could really make a difference by naming, shaming and sharing.
How did Littergram come about
The origination of Littergram came about as a result of Danny Lucas getting involved with his own local community where he lives and is a keen participant of the resident’s association and, always looking to innovate for the better, created ‘My Private Community’, an online community portal to manage residents associations and communities. It was from this that Littergram also grew as a concept. Taking pride in where you live, caring as a community and not standing back and turning a blind eye to what others do in discarding of their rubbish.
The Littergram app is a really easy way to join forces through social media with others who feel strongly about the litter crisis in Britain. It makes my blood boil when I see our great and beautiful country used as one huge litter bin. I have travelled all across Europe and it is embarrassing to me that we have let our standards slip with regards to our control and management and culture as regards to cleanly disposing of our litter. Whether it's people throwing things from the car window, people dropping fast food and crisp packets to fly-tipping and even the councils and highways contractors who simply leave damaged road cones and general rubbish by the roadside because they cannot be bothered to clear up after themselves.
Commenting, Danny Lucas said: “I felt that someone needed to step in, make some noise and move the “Keep Britain Tidy” campaign into the 21st Century. So I asked Rob Janoff, the designer of the Apple logo to design the Littergram icon and I set about developing the app which is now available through the Apple app store free to download.
“We love Great Britain but embarrassingly, it’s one of Europe's filthiest countries so we designed the Littergram app to empower everybody to name, shame and force a massive clean up making Britain Great again and move away from being a litterbug nation!”
