#list app

- When you hit "done", does the timer reset or continue? (or would this be a helpful setting?)

- If the timer runs out, is the next item shown and the timer resets, or does the alarm just go off? (or again, better as a setting?)

- Is the list in a particular order?/Would a randomization option be useful?

(I am only an amateur goblindev, but I have nothing to do tomorrow and this sounds simple enough that I might be able to throw something together that would be better than what you've been dealing with so far)

thank you for responding to my cry into the void, i appreciate it immensely. for me, the goal of the list app is to act as an executive function offloader for people with extremely bad short term memory. i want to look at my phone, and be reminded of what i got up for and what i am currently doing. i currently use postit notes and other small pieces of paper for this

here is my personal wishlist for the app, other people may have different opinions about what would make it most useful but here are mine:

the timer should be a pomodoro timer. when you hit "task done", the timer is not affected, the task is simply marked "done" and the next task replaces it

when the timer runs out, the alarm goes off, and when you hit "dismiss" on the timer you are returned to the app, list view

it would be great if the list was rearrangeable by dragging. i want to be able to put tasks in order of priority or order of "what i am going to do next" without having to enter them into the app in order. i dont personally have a use for randomization but that does sound like it would be fun for people who get dopamine from unpredictability

the app can be as ugly as you want, i dont care. it would be great if the current task could be displayed in either a small window overlay on my phone screen at all times, or in the app notifications list, or both. remember, the goal is for the user to be able to think "what am i doing right now? why did i get up?", look at their phone, and instantly see CURRENT TASK: FIND YOUR SHOES AND PUT THEM ON on their phone screen

I absolutely started to love this app. It was simple to begin using and I loved the organised and appealing layout. The ability to have items in their own list, and then further classify them into lists dictated by due date was a feature I really loved. I never had any issues with syncing between devices which is something that has been an ailment for me in the past.

I stumbled upon a feature called “Karma” which essentially awards you points for just completing tasks everyday. There doesn’t seem to be any negative side effects but it definitely was something that was encouraging me to do more tasks simply to increase my points and the growth of the graph.

While I really started to love this app, I can’t actually view the tasks that I’ve completed in the Free version which was a deal breaker for me. I went to upgrade to Premium but it was $41.99 for a year which definitely was too excessive (for me) just to see the items I ticked off. 

I know, it’s been a while – what, two or three weeks? – since I last mentioned The List App in a Book Riot post. The app is now known simply as Li.st, and it’s still just as great for bookish types. Still don’t believe me? Here are some examples of lists I’ve made in the last nine months or so. (The + sign means that the list is collaborative, with many people suggesting items – one of the many things I love about this app.)
