the inherently unfair comparison between being killed (-1h) and killing someone else (+0.5h) meant that limlife was always meant to be a losing game and logically the best way to win was to stay out of trouble and die as infrequently as possible. of course, this did not happen; martyn died plenty of times, but he also killed so many people that he genuinely just got his time back up.
it’s about a rigged hand, or something akin. you have to be so bloodthirsty and good at murdering that you can temporarily overcome the intrinsically entropic nature of the universe. which, for his faults, martyn in limlife was. and did.
i think i need a lap Grian of every flavor of life series guys, what do you think
still doodly because i’m too eager to post this— maybe i’ll clean it up later!!
Are you really a red life if you don’t have your tits out
I need to ramble about how heartbreaking Joel's death was from Grian's pov
Joel's despair up until this point trying to get kills, any kills, any little bit more time he could grasp. Grian yelling at Joel to kill him and give him time, only for Joel to lose another hour right after getting two kills.
Grian keeps following Joel, one who has five hours sacrificing himself to one who has five minutes. Joel absolutely panicking losing it having no idea what to do. He needed to kill someone he needed more time. Grian was offering him time but he couldn't take more from him.
Grian follows Joel as he desperately drops Tnt on other players heads and it's not working. He turns to his ally one last time in fear "Grian this is not gonna work-"
The pause
The silence after the chaos as the realization of what just happened sinks in. Grian processing that his friend's last words were calling out for him. He knew Joel was gonna die, he was just waiting for it. But when push comes to shove, nothing prepares you to hear your friends last words.
And as they caved in Grian could do nothing but close himself off, and follow the plan he had created in his mind when he wasn't mourning.
im very normal about minecraft roleplay

"You saved me Joel!"
Y'know has anyone thought of how Grian's "you will always kill who you love curse", although it hasn't, obviously, been fulfilled yet this season because nobody has permadied, is already becoming true again and again this session? Literally this entire episode was like. Nothing but him killing Joel and Jimmy again and again, by accident or mishap, but there is already so much blood on his hands. Something, something, cursed by fate but fate has had Enough. You're going to do it again this time, you're already doing it, did we not tell you hard enough the first three times?
Not to mention that Jimmy is on track of fulfilling *his* curse too, of course
Personal headcanon for the Limited Life Playground AU, circa Grian’s afk episode:
Playground!Grian remembered to pack his med box but forgot to actually put the adhd meds in it, so he left his backpack there to act as “him” while he went home and got them.
