They struggled a lot after Orian was born, both from complications afterwards but also from other losses they had during that time, which triggered a long depressive episode for them, making it hard to rule their kingdom and take care of their baby.
Liriam, who was their advisor, helped as much as he could, both with the kingdom's issues but also with taking care of Orian, pratically becoming a third (or in this case, second) parent to him.
I did change their hair gradient to end in black instead of purple, I think it looks better this way, and I like the other colors a lot already :] Their colors are more muted than most tritons because they are a descendant of tritons from deeper waters, and Orian inherited that too, though not as much as Parion did.
Feeding issues
Both Orian had troubles latching and Parion couldn't produce much milk, which made Parion's already stressful situation even worse, and that was what made Liriam step up on helping out with taking care of Orian, to leave some room for Parion to breathe and try to recover.
I dont think I ever really mentioned that tritons in OOE are mammals, and actually are hominids, so they are closely related to humans, but not enough for any kind of triton-human hybrid to happen. They can breathe underwater, I am allowing myself that unrealistic characteristic fndsjjndsf
They have even less sexual dymorphism than humans, with breasts only ever developing for breastfeeding and going away after the baby starts eating solid food. So humans assumed for the longest time that tritons were only "male"/ that they never saw any "female" tritons. They have a whole separate view and concept of gender than humans do, but I haven't figured that out yet. All the tritons' pronouns are like, ones they would prefer for themselves in human languages, but they don't care much about it
