Marvel AU || Open to all || LionLight 🦁

After dealing with a particularly annoying attorney, Kaz wanted nothing more than to go home and relax. When he heard the sound of sirens and people shouting, he nearly kept on walking. Unfortunately, whatever was happening caused a big enough commotion that a small crowd had formed and blocked his path.

Pushing his way to to the center, Police had been setting up a barricade around what looked to be a car accident. In the middle of the road a white SUV sat totaled, the entire front of it smashed in like it had driven straight into a brick wall. Strangely, there weren’t any other vehicle or building around that appeared to be damaged. The drivers side door was open, where a person lay draped halfway out onto the pavement, obviously injured severely, yet no paramedics or officers would approach.

It doesn’t take long to see why, there’s about four or five bodies of different emergency responders sprawled out around the site. Standing on top of the car is another person, no doubt the one responsible for the whole mess. Probably some attention seeking, wannabe supervillain, Kaz scoffed internally. What a pain.

He glanced down at his hand, the golden lion ring sparkling in the sunlight. None of the city’s typical heroes had shown up yet… why not give his new abilities a real-world trial? He manipulated the light around him, making himself invisible to everyone else, sneaking past the officers and their barricade, walking straight towards the figure on top of the car.

Once again, Voss finds himself at his dad’s house, in a quiet suburban neighborhood just north of the city. In front of him sits a steaming plate of pasta, fresh off the stove. It’s nearly 7pm now, the sun is low in the sky, golden sunlight streams in through the bay window and spreads across Kaz’s dining room table in a grid-like pattern.

The reason Voss had come over in the first place was the same as usual, his dad needed help disposing of a body. And, as a thank you, Kaz had invited him to stay for a home cooked meal, which Voss had graciously accepted. There was nothing remarkable about this one and they were able to get everything cleaned up fairly quickly. By now Voss had become accustomed to the terrifying state the bodies were typically in. Each of them appeared to have been tortured for hours before finally dying. He didn’t like to think about that. He chose not to.

Of course they were all terrible people— Kaz told him they were— so, it’s not like Voss felt bad for any of them. It’s just… a lot. Seeing the aftermath of such concentrated violence. At least by the time he was called, their suffering has already ended. He never actually had to witness to the murders, and he preferred it that way. Whenever he arrives Kaz seems to be his usual pit together self (aside from one time where he’d been injured). It’s hard to imagine the strait-laced attorney committing the violent atrocities necessary to leave his victims in such a state. Voss often found himself wondering what he must look like in the act.

“Is it still too hot?” Kazimir’s voice draws Voss out of his thoughts. He quickly shakes his head and pushes the imagery of mutilated corpses out of his head to focus on eating.

Just then Kaz’s doorbell rings. Kaz furrows his brows, he’s certainly not expecting anyone right now. “I’ll get it,” He sighs, pushing his chair back as he stands up.

From Voss’s seat he can see Kaz as he reaches the foyer and opens the door. The man’s expression sours as he finds his porch empty. He mumbles something about neighborhood kids under his breath, about to shut the door, when he notices an envelope on the ground in front of him, seemingly slipped under his door. He picks it up, looking it over as he shuts the door and heads back to the table. It’s a thick, cream-colored cardstock, completed with a golden wax seal. There seems to be something inside it, rattling around as he flips it over, searching for any indication of its sender, but the only thing written in its front is his name in a neat cursive font. He scowls, tossing the letter on a side table while he goes to wash his hands.

Across the room, a woman was talking to a man with no head. Just completely not there. He seemed to be talking back to her. Kaz had to investigate this.

Kazimir didn’t particularly find these kinds of events to be that enjoyable, but he knew it was important to play along. At least this one seemed to be more professional than some others he’s attended. He catches sight of the odd man, moving in slowly until he can hear the conversation.

Kaz sees the text pop up on his computer as he’s answering emails. He glances through the glass separating his desk from the others, finding his intern has yet to return from her own lunch break. Typical.

‘That would be nice, thank you. I’ll let you in.’
