WHERE: Florence’s apartment in Amory Village
WHEN: March 2nd 2019, 7 am (throwback)
florence had tried every possible tricks in the world. she breathed in and out slowly, imitating lio’s peaceful rhythym. he looked so beautiful with his face painted by moonlight. she resisted the urge to kiss his perfectly shaped lips, scared of waking him up. the woman had tried counting sheep, she tried picturing positive fantasy scenarios. taking photos at the premiere of her first movie with her parents by her sides, visiting places she had never been before like sweden or india, designing a stunning wedding gown with the perfect amount of lace and beading, sharing a new year’s kiss with... samuel. she jumped out of bed. the last thought sent an electric shock through her entire body. she bragged her blush silky bathrobe from the hanger and shut the door behind her, hurrying to the living room. she refused to share the same bed as lio one more minute.
amory was asleep but her own mind was as noisy as new york city in the worst traffic. instead of car horns and loud pedestrians, it was this voice urging her to escape. escape from what? she did not even know herself. but, she needed to run far anfd fast. she needed to hide. she needed to be alone. she needed to talk to lio. florence did not want to wake him up, so, instead, she crashed on the couch and just stared blankly ahead. the television was shut off, but it was like she watched a movie. she remembered the conversations she had with samuel’s friends after the accident. they were telling her that he was driving to new york to buy a suit for their wedding. she remembered her parents coming to sleep with her in their house. she was terrified and needed to be put to bed like a child. she remembered every detail about this same day, two years ago, when she attended samuel’s funerals. she remembered seeing his family hug and hold hands while she sat on her bench of the church with her own parents by her side. she felt so disconnected from everything.
the woman had felt this way until lio walked into her life. it was like the movie started again, he came up to her at the right time and place the same way samuel had done three years earlier. lio was absolutely perfect. there was no other way to describe him. caring, attentive, oh so loving. he was patient with her, even though everything happened kind of quickly. flora experienced this sort of emergency., scared that if she let him slip away she would never live another love story. it was like her second chance. nobody would deny second chances.
nobody but her, apparently.
the sun was not yet rising but she wandered around her apartment. she put a blanket in the dryer to wrap her tired body with warmth and comfort, knowing that she would never get to enjoy lio’s again. she tried to eat, but her burnt piece of toast ran cold on a plate. she just sat on the couch and thought. she thought of how she was going to tell him how much he meant to her. she thought of how she wished she could hug him and never leave his embrace. she thought of how...
florence faked a grin, a sad one, when she felt his presence next to her. he did not even need to make a sound, she knew he was there. he had this talent of filling a room with some sort of energy that could heal every wound.
“oh, you’re up already?”
