Giving block printing another go! I made the sketch for the print about a year ago, but I had such a bad time printing last time that I haven’t tried again for a year.
I think I have a bit better control of the ink now — I used more extender than last time. I think making a smaller block and using printing-specific paper helped too.
But I think what helped the most was feeling less pressure that printing had to go well. Last time, I felt like I was wasting ink & paper if stuff didn’t work. As well as the time I spent designing, carving, and printing the block. This time, the ink and paper had just been sitting around for a year. I felt bad that I wasn’t using it! I had fun carving even if the prints turned out poorly. And I gave myself just 30 min to print — I could bail if I didn’t have fun or stuff wasn’t coming out nicely. I had a good time, even though the prints look just ok to me. I probably won’t use this particular block again.
I’m glad I gave it another shot! Hope I take the lessons from today forward! I think it’ll be less than a year before I try again (I hope)

Also if anyone has types on cleaning up oil based ink please help. The only thing I found that works is make up remover.
Bag I Made
Finished bag! The linocut patch I made myself, and the fuzzy bag is thrifted! I'm so happy with the results and I think this would be such a cute winter accessory.
