The Golden Deer are doing worse than he had thought. Their numbers pluck steadily from the field, Linhardt finds himself concentrated as he puts forth rare effort in holding his Houseâs ground. Now, heâs not one for pride, but he has to admit: Itâd be pathetic if he let his comrades down at their weakest. Senses alert, he sees a familiar figure-- A target. He thinks little of circumstances as he readies a spell. Iâm doing this for the win, Linhardt thinks as he blasts forth a blade of wind. (18)
Her pride was already wounded from losing her fight so spectacularly. Not to mention how her arms and legs hurt from the burns. It was a miserable, sniffling, and unthreatening Bernadetta that was making her way to the infirmary. She was clearly no threat to anybody, and most people had given her the goodwill to let her go past unbothered.
The wind magic was a little surprising.
Falling to the ground with a pained yelp, it took her a moment to process what was happening. A moment that was quickly interrupting but the pain from the burns being jostled so suddenly. When she did look up, it was to a familiar green head of hair looking at her with unfamiliar determination. âLinhardt!?â
Confused, in pain, and too tired to process the unfamiliar anger that surged at seeing him, Bernadetta did the first thing she could think of in response to the unprompted attack.
She threw her bow at him. It missed, of course, not being very aerodynamic, but she still tried it. (Bernadetta rolled a 1.)
Itâs the burst of energy through her veins that followed that was the real surprise. Of all the stupid, annoying things Linhardt had done (and she could think of plenty if she really sat and tried), now he was attacking her? Sheâd already lost! What, was Bernie so horrible that everyone thought she needed to lose more? That it wasnât good enough that Bernadetta lost once? Was he going to tie her up to the ballista and set her on fire and shoot her at the enemies? Oh she bet he would have fun doing that wouldnât he?
âYou...you!â Bernadetta struggled for words as she struggled to her feet. So, she did the next best thing she could think of with her crest sending blood rushing through her ears so fast it was hard to hear anything.
With a scream, Bernadetta launched herself at Linhardt and tackled him into the mud. âYou stupid idiot!â (Crest activated. Bernie rolled a 15. Damage isnât real.)
