The foundation of my philosophy is based on the premise that reality is objective, however human sentience is a force in reality that has a perceivable effect on said objective reality. Everything that exists around us is real whether or not we are there to perceive it. However, the things that we do and don't do still have a tangible effect on the world around us. Objectively, there is no inherent meaning to life because everything is just coincidental entropy, meaning things just happen and there is no grand reason for anything. Trying to look for an objective purpose in the universe is a fool's errand. But meaning is integral to sentience because we exist in a position where sentience allows us to ascribe meaning to things, and that ascribed meaning is the most important thing to us. Life has no built-in meaning, but the fact that we choose to give things meaning is what actually makes our lives meaningful.
Because of this, the ultimate goal of life is to define and achieve your own happiness based on what you value, while negatively affecting everyone else around you the least. Your actions and inactions play a direct role in the prevention, achievement, or blockading of someone else's happiness. This balance is maintained through personal responsibility by regulating your sentience across logic, empathy, and instinct, as well as maintaining collective responsibility by measuring group decisions using those same three metrics. Human interaction is rooted in the fact that everyone is selfish, meaning every person is naturally more concerned with the things that benefit them than others. Caring about yourself first is rational self-interest, but where frameworks like Ayn Rand fucked up was treating self-interest as a license to sacrifice everyone and everything just to satisfy personal happiness, which is just narcissism. Rational self-interest means prioritizing yourself without fucking over other people in the process or ignoring how your actions make them feel.
So above all else, live your best life, let everyone else live their best life, understand you are not the center of the universe, and realize that no matter what we have to work together to coexist on this planet. Peace is not about agreeing on everything, it's about coexistence because the basis of human interaction is understanding that everyone is selfish in their own right. The societal contract is simply based in leaving each other the fuck alone even though you are selfish.
