15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

The show doesn’t hold up.

I still love Inuyasha, I adore the world, but the show didn’t hold up over time. It’s been fifteen years and you can tell. It drags on, it’s full of the awful 2000s anime tropes of violence played as humor, pervy characters perving on everything, and bad writing. (Seriously, how many ‘ultimate techniques’ does one sword have to have?) It’s repetitive and lazy at times and TFA infuriates me with the massive step backwards it takes for character development.

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

I would throw out most filler episodes -- specifically the mess before the Band of Seven. It just drags on and on and on that by the time the Band of Seven shows up, I want nothing to do with them because I’m just done watching. 

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

For some reason, people think their opinion of a ship is Important and they throw it all over the place. It’s everywhere. “I don’t ship it but the art is nice” tossed in the tags, arguing in people’s replies, “Why does that ship have to exist,” “This ship is Awful and here’s seventy-two reasons that are solely centered around my one view,” “Why does that ship get all the [topic],” time-consuming attempts at meta intending to “disprove” the “logic” of a ship.

If I answer this, y’all are going to make me write it.

It’s an emotion, not a plot:

1.  I have this really bad habit of loosely plotting out different AUs and ideas and then never writing them. One of these days, I’m going to sift through my blog and tag all of them because it’s a large amount and I’m sure people would get a kick out of it. But a lot of those ideas fall into this category. Ocean Blues is a HUGE example. That entire plot revolves around the different emotions and that I wrote anything for it still surprises me, but that is the reason I haven’t written anything else for it (even though I want to).

2.  There are quite a few of those little tumblr posts going around that highlight a specific action in movies. The most recent one was about slow dancing to jazz music in your kitchen at 2am. Those little things to me are definite emotions. I don’t necessarily care about writing two characters slow dancing, I care about the emotion behind it and all that it could mean. But then -- how do I write that without delving into a plot? It’s possible, but a lot more work than I want to put into it. So those just stay as little pieces that I reblog and enjoy in my head and then move on.

3.  I have this long-abandoned SessRin idea that’s been floating around for a while. The murky basics were the jewel threw Kagome and Inuyasha into the present permanently after they defeated Naraku. A couple years later, Rin was spit out of the well, too. So the three of them live together -- Inuyasha and Kagome “adopt” Rin and raise her, but she struggles through having so much responsibility and ‘freedom’ in the past to the very strict rigors of the present that she revolts.

The ‘story’ starts with her working in a bar as a bartender. It’s her birthday (maybe 20? or 21, I can’t remember), she got a tattoo for herself in a further rebellion against the world she’s supposed to live in, and a new patron shows up that reminds her of someone she’d rather forget because forgetting makes it easier to deal.

All of that nonsense because I just wanted to write Rin meeting Sesshoumaru again without knowing it. Rin getting his stripes tattooed on her collarbones (or ribs) and his crescent moon tattooed on her sternum. Rin rejecting everything about this new life with the overwhelming doom that it’s all she has left. And Sesshoumaru believing that she forgot all about him and warring on whether or not that bothers him.

OMG Thank you!! I’m glad you like my art as well as Sesskik :D but hey have no worries! Sesskik is back to reclaim the tittle of prettiest and most badass ship.

Besides, there is an AMAZING artist called @maradigma who posts Sesskik and there is also a fanfic called The Rift Between Auras by chiosaki that brought us all sesskik fans back to life because that story is a masterpiece no kidding.

I saw it yeah! Did the survey when it came out, in fact; it’s really nice to see them being proactive. Introverted cat that I am, I don’t go to write-ins or anything but there are people who thrive off that who are going to need other measures now. The Twitter, Facebook and Instagram live write-ins always seemed like a good idea and iirc they’ve expanded on them (mind, I haven’t done these, I barely use Twitter and Facebook and don’t actually have an Instagram, but if you do it’s a great tool!)

They are, of course, updating things on their site too - you guys can find what we’re talking about here - which is really good, and I’m semi-following that when I remember it. XD

Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, I think it is writing. I started writing way before I was serious about reading (when my mother still had to force me to read actual books at the time). I always enjoyed stories and probably thought writing was the easiest way to tell mine.

I’m stupidly late in responding to your message but I just saw it. Your reaction makes me laugh. I am happy you quote my words because I had almost forgotten that post. And wow, ‘past me’ wrote some funny sentences. Just what I needed.

I added you! We might have been buddies before, I genuinely do not recall... I’ve been on there since 2014 and I wish I’d had the thought to write down who my buddies were to re-friend them on the new site - it’s the one thing that hadn’t translated over!

And yeah, that “Project Targets” page is absolutely from Scrivener. XD It’s my favorite writing tool, unless I’m doing a collaborative piece (then it’s Google Docs); I only use Word for moving fics from Scrivener to Google Docs, or to FFN. (And tbh, I also use FFN because you can C+P from the FFN window straight to Ao3 without having to fuss with it.)
