#Businessman since the youth. Stylin’ and profilin’ until my #LightsGoOut I thought pursuing a business degree would impact my creativity, but so would breaking the promise I made to my grandfather as a child. It was important for me to look my grandfather in the eyes and say “hey, old man. I kept my promise and got that business degree, Dadjie.” I thoroughly disliked most of my business courses in college, but I told myself I would seek my own path in life once I made it out. To me, that was the only way to truly flourish and maintain happiness. Living a predetermined life for others’ would be the internal death of me, but to me, breaking a promise would be much worse. I was determined to rebuild myself after college and do life my way. Getting my English minor was a blast. I remember meeting with my friend’s mom and asking her about her experience pursuing English in college. I quickly realized it was inevitably meant for me. I am grateful for the insight she and my mom gave me that day. Reading is still a struggle, but I filled almost all of the credit requirements for my minor with writing courses, which kept me “more sane” during my time in university. All in all, I always wanted to be a musician as a child, but it took me until the end of high school to really pin-point the direction I desired to go with it. Writing never left my side, however.
