Just watched The Odyssey 2026 by Christopher Nolan. Since I benefited from a trigger warning about animal abuse, I figured I could share another trigger as well because even though I do not have the condition, it was still quite headache-inducing.
First of all, there is animal violence. In the beginning of the film. It's brief but it's there. A flashback of how Odysseus got his puppy, Argos. There is a puppy getting thrown off the cliff before that so be aware.
Next, they mistreat old Argos. It's a scene in the banquet hall and he is in between one of the suitors. You're going to hear his cries and they will show him getting kicked. After that, he is moved outside to the waste pile. This was the part that got me the most. He reminded me so much of my old senior doggo who has passed.
Also by the end, when Odysseus finally reunites with Argos. Nothing violent happens but he does pass away. A very tearful scene.
The next trigger is for those with light-sensitivity. When Odysseus and his crew exit the Sun God's isle, they are met with the wrath of Zeus in a terrifying scene at sea. There is SO MUCH flashing of lights. It goes on for a really long time. I was also overwhelmed by the loudness of it. I had to look to look away from the screen. The flashing lights stop when Odysseus and Calypso are talking again.
There's another scene that was quite jarring. When Circe turns Odysseus' crew into pigs. This was what got to my boyfriend the most.
And of course the usual violence of war there will be a lot of it in the flashbacks where they siege Troy. Lots of killing and blood and violence.
Hope this helps someone!
