I don't understand the hate towards Lawlight's age gap. Sure, 7 years apart is a great deal and no normal 17 year old should be dating a 24 year old. And no normal 17 year old should commit guiltless mass murderer.

Saw someone saying that it was weird to ship them because a 24 year old and a 17 year old are at "two drastically different stages on their lives". Normal ones, sure, but bro, bro Light Yagami and L Lawliet are not normal people. That's the plot of the show. They ARE going through the same deal. There's a whole ass song about it in the musical.
