Skyfall Art-ober Day #11: Relevant Sky-kin Family Tree

Took a break from new designs today to instead make a family tree for the characters I’ve posted over the last few days. I left out Sedgecloud’s kits and Silverblaze’s kits, but they’ll get designs over the next few days. Birdflight and Cloudstorm will get full body designs as well.

Skyfall Art-ober Day #8: Lichenshade, Shadoweye Roamer

Lichenshade aka Skyfall Gorseclaw. He is the son of Birdflight and Cloudstorm, brother of Orchidbloom, ex-mate of Burnetheart of the Thunderhearts, and father of Silverblaze, Thegn of the Thunderhearts.

“Silverblaze. I love you-“

“Stop right there. I don’t think you do.”

Sure go for it! You could even argue that “canonically” to the rewrite she is their distant ancestor through Tawnypelt since Burnet’s descendants are Thunderhearts.

As far as other information on Burnetheart goes:

1. She met Lichenshade when they were both on a roam. Many shires do large-scale roams together, and in this case the Shadoweyes and Thunderhearts did a joint one. They had a brief fling that ended very badly and resulted in Silverblaze.

2. Burnetheart was the only daughter of Amberclaw, whose brother was the Thunderheart thegn, Redstripe (Redstar from Cloudstar’s Journey). Redstripe had no kits of his own, so Burnetheart was the closest he had. She was pampered by her father and uncle and has a bit of a pompous, self-absorbed attitude as a result.

Yes— Birdflight made sure that her kits remembered where they came from and what happened to their kin. Birdflight, Orchidbloom, Lichenshade, and their immediate descendants have an understandably complicated relationship with basically every other shire cat.

They view the Thegns as directly responsible for their kin being driven out and possibly killed and all other cats alive at the time as complicit. And Birdflight will not let the other shires forget their actions. She makes sure her kits know that they would’ve been Skyclaws had their father and kin not been driven away.
