In Brazil, we have a very beloved comic book series (Turma da Mônica, Mônica and Friends) that's been in production for over 70 years. It's technically marketed for kids, but since everyone grew up reading the series, everyone reads it.
It's so popular and ubiquitous that most Brazilians learn to read by reading these comics (or learn to read in order to read the comics). Like, there's even official adult merch of the series saying "If you learned to read with Turma da Mônica raise your hand":
Well, when I was little, I loved the series so much that I wanted to live in a house made of Turma da Mônica comics. So my very extensive collection before I moved to Canada was very intentional: I genuinely believed that I was investing in my future house (you'd need a lot of comics to build a house, after all!).

One of my jobs in my co-op with Environment Canada was to digitize old studies to pass them to researchers from all over the world when they asked for a copy because tons of old stuff isn't digitized or available on the internet.
