Hello Boots fandom,

Allow me yet another curious question: Among all the fics that you're written for the "Boots"-fandom so far, do you have a personal favourite? If yes, which and why?

And do you have one where you would change things in hindsight? (don't have to name that one...)

curious questions always welcome! <3 although asking me to choose a favourite Boots fic is like asking me to choose a favourite child XD

well, first of all I was shocked to find that I've written 11 Boots fics! when did all that happen?

obviously I have to give some love to 'tell me all the ways (to stay away)' because it was the fic that got me into this fandom, so it's nostalgic :)

hmmm... 'static on the line' and the rest of 'static 'verse' were tremendous fun to write - of them, I have a special soft spot for 'jittery as a june bug', just because I loved getting inside Howitt's brain and seeing Cam from an 'outside' POV :)

special shout out to 'real love, baby' for being the only part of 'separating salt from water' to ever see the light of day. (still regularly haunted by this fic in my WIP folder lol.) I love the dynamic, the tenderness and care, ugh!!

as for what I'd change, HA - yes, there's a lot of things I come back to and think about 'cleaning up' or editing out, like clunky exposition or dialogue. but at the end of the day, this is fanfic for fun; I try to take the pressure to be 'perfect' off my plate and aside from spelling / grammatical errors I try to leave the fics alone :)

one thing I'd love to have thought through better is the ending of 'do what you want to me (i'll give it all to you)' - I wish I'd written a chapter from Cam's POV to show what he was up to between chapter thirteen and fourteen, to give it a more cohesive ending.

From my current Sullivan/Howitt (Sullitt)-WIP, first draft, mind you:

And still... there was something about Sullivan that had caught Howitt's fancy. He couldn't exactly pinpoint it at that time, but something about him was deeply fascinating, was drawing him towards Sullivan. He'd put so much effort into getting to know him, breaking through his facade. Somehow, he wanted to be accepted, appreciated by him. At first, Howitt had thought it was only because of Sullivan's military achievements. But now he realized it was because he found Sullivan... attractive. Something inside him contracted painfully. Thinking of a man as sexually attractive was not new to Howitt.

As some may be aware from things I've shared on my blog in the past, I've always considered myself a "sullicope enjoyer from afar" as I don't out right ship them, but still understand the grand appeal with the fandom masses, and have enjoyed certain theories and fics from time to time.

But, an AU idea hit my head that might have the potential to be turned into some sort of fic. While I don't personally have the bandwidth to do something with this rando idea that came to mind since my heart isn't 100% into this ship, I figured might as well share it and see if those with a true passion for the ship might find it useful (or not, completely fine if this idea is a dud and just fizzles out like soda gone flat lol. It doesn't make a difference to me either way).

Anyways, enough rambling. Here's the idea.

Sullivan, known to struggle with his demons when it comes to alcohol, finally takes the plunge and attends an AA meeting, and that's where he meets the group's leader, Cameron. Eventually, as Cam sees Liam struggling with his sobriety, he takes it upon himself to become Liam's AA sponsor, but things get messy when support turns into feelings and desire is louder than morals.

-Thinking perhaps Cam gets involved after loosing a loved one (ex-lover, or a close friend, or a random family member, idk, you get the point) that meant a lot to him (either via cirrhosis of the liver or a drunk driving incident) and he makes it life's work to help others that struggle with the same demons.

-This obviously turns the whole taboo (Drill Sergeant/Recruit) dynamic from the show on it's head with a different dynamic, and now with Cam technically holding the upper hand in the relationship since he's Liam's AA sponsor.

Anyways, yeah, that's the idea that popped into my head. Please feel free to tell me this idea is basic AF and "don't talk to me or my sons ever again" (lmao😂). But yeah, if anyone wants to do anything with this, please have at it and I hope you have fun while creating (even if multiple people want to take a crack at it and offer different takes on the concept). I don't need to be credited for the idea either. Just didn't want the possibility of a story be wasted on my ungrateful mind when I know there are fans with a true passion for this ship.
