❝ – A, E, M, such simple puzzle-
The shudder and crunch of metal in the plane’s wing sent Sherlock completely out of his concentration to look about frantically, the voice of Adler registering through the screams around him as the lights flickered and sputtered out.
“Everyone shut up, don’t move, don’t scream!” Holmes yelled over the chaos, the crowds falling silent and the detective thought for a millisecond over routes, landings, and emergency drills before taking in a sharp breath and throwing on his life vest from under the seat, azure eyes gleaming with a mix of fear and concentration as the plane continued to plummet towards the earth.
“Put on your life vests- start with the child and those who need assistance- stay buckled and for the sake of the pilots do not scream! Irene, ensure everyone has followed these instructions!”
Sherlock then climbed his way to the cockpit where he flung open the door, his lips drawing into a line when he noticed both the pilot and co-pilot unconscious in their seats before shoving the pilot out of the way, his eyes flicking over the buttons a moment while he began to maneuver and pull up on the piloting stick, the other hand haphazardly placing the headset from the co-pilot on his head.
“This is flight 278 London, we are dropping at extreme altitudes- S.O.S, I repeat-”
The plane jumped from turbulence and Sherlock nearly fell out of his seat, but let out a small grunt in exertion while he stabilized the falling vehicle; the garbled men on the other line trying to remain contact and instruction.
“We are going down near the south coast of the Atlantic sea; prepare an evac- I repeat this is flight 278 London-”
Though any talking halted when he noticed the ocean hurtling towards them, a flicker of fear spreading in Holmes’s chest as he pull the lever in the cockpit to open the emergency rafts upon impact, the detective going onto the intercom to speak to the passengers for instruction.
“London Flight 278, as soon as this plane hits the water you are to swim to the surface and find the nearest life raft- we have 20 seconds until impact so I would advise you to pull the strings on your vests-” – ❞
