their rivalry has been going on for years, and yet they respect each other like no one else does. how can you not think about them? (and for a ship that was born this year, mind you. a ship with one of the components who does nothing but talk shit about the other. it’s not a coincidence that i’ve never seen a max fan being a rust*ppen fan, it’s always george’s fans 😭😭)

okay i need a lestappen oneshot with this in it, of course with alpha max and omega charles. max would go absolutely crazy and feral if someone tried to hit on a pregnant charles

a world where max and charles have been together for years. its not public, not because they want to hide it, just because they love their privacy and hate the idea of gossip entering their love life. but in the paddock everyone knows even though no one talks about it,

lately, though, something has changed. charles starts acting off. he insists nothing’s wrong every time max asks, brushing it off with a soft smile that never reach his eyes. but max knows him too well. he notices everything: how charles is on his phone more often, how there’s a constant edge of worry in him, how his behavior changes in small, almost imperceptible ways but ESPECIALLY every time he’s around max. like he’s walking on eggshells every time max gets close

and then there’s his scent. different, not wrong but still unfamiliar with something that max can’t recognise. something new woven into it, something he has never smelled on him before, layered with a constant thread of anxiety

max doesn’t understand it, but his instinct don’t need to understand what’s happening to react. whether it’s his alpha instincts or the jealousy he’s never fully managed to get rid of, something in him starts to turn sharp, suspicious and possessive. he starts watching charles more closely, staying always close to him, not letting him out of his sight if he can help it

in the paddock, it becomes impossible to ignore and it is that visible that even fans, who didn’t know anything before, start picking up on it. cause god, max is always there, always hovering, looming, inserting himself into every space around charles

the instant moment free practice ends? he’s back in ferrari’s garage, eyes locked on lewis with something too close to hostility. during interviews? he sits between charles and oscar, like that was the right order and not the one he changed on his own decision. on the podium? his hand grips charles’ waist so tightly it visibly presses into the fabric of his race suit. even carlos standing on max’ other side feels the tension. and its never good when an alpha is visibly annoyed, angry and fucking jealous

and the problem is that everyone ca smell it, the tension, the anger, the thick, suffocating scent of an alpha on edge that’s been lingering for weeks now, every single time max steps into the paddock

and it only gets worse bcause max doesn’t know how to ask. if charles really cheated on him, if that’s what all of this means… max is painfully aware that there would be no coming back from it, he would never recover from this and he would make it everyone’s problem. by the next race weekend, there would definitely be one less alpha on the grid, no matter who the bastard turns out to be

charles on the other hand is spiraling for an entirely different reason

at the beginning it was just anxiety, he didn’t know how to tell max, didn’t know how to even put it into words. he kept postponing it, telling himself he’d find the right moment, the right way. anything but blurting it out in the middle of a race weekend. andpierre thought it was the right decision too. they kept messaging about it, he was the very first person charles said it too

but then max started changing. honestly at first charles thought it was just stress. after all he had a bad weekend that week. but it didn’t stop. actually it got just worse. every week he was more irritated, there was more tension, that constant edge in him that never seemed to go away. even on track, even when he won, even when everything should have been fine, there was still something off about him

and charles notices everything too, obviously

he notices how max is always there now, never more than a few steps away. how he keeps finding reasons to come back to him, to stay close, to touch him, to scent him again and again like he’s trying to fix something that won’t settle

it should have been reassuring probably but instead it makes charles’ chest tighten. there’s something restless in it, something almost frustrated. and charles, poor baby, can’t stop connecting it to the one thing he hasn’t told him

he’s pregnant

the thought alone is enough to make his stomach twist. because what if max has already noticed?what if the change in his scent isn’t something he can hide anymore? what if this, the tension, the way mad seems constantly suspicious around him, the way he keeps scenting him like he’s trying to get rid of something unfamiliar… is max’s instinct reacting before he even understands what’s happening?

because charles doesn’t think max knows, but that doesn’t make it better, if anything, it makes it worse because in his head, it means that even without knowing, max’s alpha can already feel that something is different… and doesn’t like it

and the closer max stays and the more insistent he becomes, the more charles starts to associate it with that idea. so every time max reaches for him, every time he pulls him closer, every time he presses his scent into his skin like he’s trying to overwrite something-

charles freezes for just a second and says nothing. because if this is how max reacts without knowing… god he has no idea how he’ll react when he finally does

AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE MAX FIND OUT ABOUT THE PREGNANCY. i thought idk, that one day he finally snapped and started a fight (during the fight you have to picture charles touching his belly between some exchanges) with charles, a fight that just kept making things worse cause they were constantly misunderstanding each other and just making the other worry even more. till charles completely on the verge of a crisis, with tears in his eyes that already started dropping down, scream it into his face taking both hands on his lower belly
