angry sex with lestappen where you're jealous mad at charles because he was flirting withâ talking innocently toâ someone else.
you know it wasnât flirting, not really. charles is just like thatâ smiles too much, stands too close, tilts his head when he listens like every word matters. and it pisses you the fuck off.
being aware doesnât really stop the ugly burn from flaring in your chest though and it's no spoiler that it ends up hurting your boyfriends too.
you saw the way she touched his arm, saw how he laughed, soft and just for her, and for the rest of the evening you couldnât look at him without tasting blood in your mouth.
charles, oblivious at first, kept asking what was wrong.
and when you didnât answer, he simply stopped asking, hoping max will sort this out. max does try, he tries to get you to talk and loosen up but now?
max is angry at you for giving him the silent treatment as well because he knows he hasn't done anything wrong but has to suffer because of his dumbass boyfriend.
max hates being caught in the middle.
heâs not subtle about it eitherâ slamming cabinets in the kitchen, snapping at both of you.
âyou two are ridiculous,â he mutters, pacing like a storm in bare feet and boxer briefs.
he didnât do anything. and yet somehow heâs been cut out of the warmthâ left in the cold with two stubborn idiots who won't talk to each other.
you wonât let max touch you. charles wonât touch max. max is burning as well with nothing to hold on to.
charles who is mad at max for not taking his side and trying to clear his name off alone. he didnât ask for a rescue, but god, didn't max love him enough to put him first? he wanted an out.
wanted max to roll his eyes and say âcharles doesnât even notice when people flirt with him. trust me. it's nothing.â
wanted someone in his corner when he saw the press speculating, when you walked away from him without a word.
he felt abandoned. his mouth twists bitter when he accepts it.
âi was getting attacked out there and you just stood there.â
max only shrugs, jaw clenched.
âwhat, so now you think it's my fault too?â
you laugh, dry and sharp, and thatâs the final crack. your display of nonchalance makes max crack.
rough hands, snarky comments and a few eye rolls laterâ
they both have you pinned on the bed.
charlesâs mouth on your bare skin, hands gripping your hips. pressing kisses against your waist, trying to get more access.
maxâs fingers in your hair, his voice low and furious in your ear as he rolls a nipple between his fingers.
âbaby, you couldâve just told us you were jealous.â
you gasp as charles bites downâ not gentle, not soft. it hurts and you glare at him as your eyes well up.
âyou hurt me,â he says between teeth and tongue, voice breaking. his reasoning made sense, he was only hurting you back. ignoring how you clenched around nothing, you sigh.
max pushes your legs open wider with a gentle hand. the guilt hits you hard. you shouldn't have given him the silent treatment over something charles did and as you're about to speak up and apologise-
âyou donât get to ignore us and then act like the victim.â
your body burns with it- all of it.
shame, want, anger, love.
itâs rough. fast and out of this world. the way they make you feel is out of this world and it is making your thoughts messy, more honest. they make you melt in their hold, your back arching as you try to chase the orgasm you are denied once again.
you whine, over it this time. the conversation in bruises and sweat and desperate friction has forgiven it all.
charles chokes on a moan as you tug his curls, urging him to press his lips against yours.
max bites your shoulder as you arch into him, his fingers deep, arching to find that one spot he knows will only driver you more desperate.
hands all over. sweat and spit marking you as theirs.
no rhythm, no coordination, just need. three people trying to claw their way back into each other.
charles is the one breaking first, apologising for nothing really. you don't remember now.
afterward, the room is quiet but not calm. you finally are granted the orgasm you wanted. your lovers basking in the little twitches and sounds of your body.
youâre tangled in sheets and sore all over, skin humming with every fingerprint and bite mark they left.
charles has his head on your chest, eyes wet.
âiâm sorry,â he whispers, voice raw. âi don't wa-want anyond but you both.â
you kiss his forehead. heart finally slowing down a bit.
âi know. i love you too.â
he breathes out like it hurts still as if he thought you'd never say it to him again. what a fool.
max slides an arm across both your waists, pulling you into him.
still frustrated so he presses a kiss to your lips when you try to speak up again. that's just who max was. this is why it's easy to get mad at him.
he never stays mad, hes the rational, the one who understands and lets go of stuff when needed but still silently furious at how easily you took advantage of that.
you make a note to make upto him later, he wasn't going anywhere anyway. instead you both comfort charles. the one who breaks the earliest in between you all.
you wonder if max ever thinks of leaving you both. you're too dependent on him, emotionally, mentally, physically.
but he's still there. you let out a sign of relief. kissing him this time instead. scared yet reassured. gentle yet harsh. comforting yet hurtful.
and thatâs love, isnât it? not clean. not easy.
just real, and aching, understanding, despite the anger, still trying.

đৠâ AT FIRST, YOU DIDNâT THINK IT WOULD WORK. You had never been one for throuples. Three-person relationships had always left a bad taste in your mouth; you either ended up as the third wheel or left out entirely. Maybe thatâs why you thought this would be a bad idea too.
â đৠâ But Max and Charles had made an effort from the start to make one thing very clear: the three of you were on equal footing. Each had their favorites, that was obvious, but you had also learned to love and respect each other equally, to function as a single unit. You couldnât deny your weakness for Max, the same weakness he felt for Charles, and that Charles, in turn, felt for you. It was a cycle. A little puzzle in which all three pieces fit perfectly.
â đৠâ Charles and you were pure chaos, the ones who brought the fun, the youthful, free energy. Max, on the other hand, was more serious, more reserved. He always ended up taking care of both of you, with that protective, steady air that made him the voice of reason. What he said, you two did.. And you couldnât deny that this side of him gave both you and the Monegasque goosebumps, especially when you pulled a prank and he decided not to speak to you for a couple of hours.
â đৠâ In your relationship, there was nothing that a few sweet kisses and a couple of hugs couldnât fix. When Max got upset, he crossed his arms on the sofa, grabbed his phone, and ignored you both for the rest of the afternoon. Then Charles and you would sit on either side of him, one on each of his thighs, planting soft, playful kisses on his neck, jawline, and ears, just enough for Max to roll his eyes and end up forgiving you, wrapping you both in a hug.
â đৠâ Things were very different at races than at home. Throuples werenât well regarded, and even less so the fact that two drivers were openly bisexual. Thatâs why publicly you were in a relationship with Charles, while Max maintained the image of a coveted bachelor. It went without saying that the Dutchman wouldnât even look at anyone trying to flirt with him for more than two seconds, but it was also true that keeping the relationship secret was sometimes painful.
â đৠâ He hated many things, but not being able to kiss or hug you two after a good race was, without a doubt, what hurt the most. You couldnât even look at him for more than two seconds when talking in the paddock, just to avoid speculation. And yet, even with a camera pointing at you, when both knew you couldnât show affection because the next day it would be in every sports outlet, it made you want to cry. You just wanted to kiss him and tell him how much you loved him. But then, as always, Max would take a risk, sliding a hand under the counter, where no one could see, and intertwining his warm fingers with yours. That simple gesture was enough to remind you he was there, with you, and his touch seemed to whisper, âIâm here, liefde.â
â đৠâ Still, being at home was also your safe place, your stronghold, your refuge, the only place where the three of you could truly be yourselves, without restrictions. Where Charles could act needy for attention, and Max would tease him, holding him by the waist while you covered his face with kisses.
â đৠâ In your free time, the three of you liked watching movies, playing video or board games, helping Charles with a new song, enduring Max humiliating you and Charles on simulators, having sex occasionally, or just lazing on the sofa with the fan blowing on your faces.
â đৠâ Charles and you always found a comfortable spot on Maxâs chest. The blond would hold you close to his warm body, letting you hide your heads in his broad chest or in the nape of his neck. Breathing in his masculine scent gave an immediate sense of safety. Both of you would trace his arms or abdomen with your fingers. Charles, with his impeccable French accent, would comment, âWe should stop racing and just chill like this forever.â And you both laughed, even though you knew he could never give up speed for anything in the world.
â đৠâ Everyone had your own way of showing love. Charles was more about physical affection and words; Max, about acts of service and quality time. And in fact, it worked because each brought something that made the relationship flow naturally. You loved it when Charles kissed you and whispered sweet words in French, like âJe tâaime tellement, mon amour,â or when Max solved one of your problems and stayed to spend time with you watching your favorite movie. In the end, you realized that even though you had been unlucky with throuples before, here everything fit perfectly.
â đৠâ You could fight. You were in a relationship with two extremely competitive men, and Max was by far the most stubborn of the three. He had a hard time compromising on things that didnât align with his ideals, and taking the blame wasnât exactly his strong suit, but he tried, like everyone else.
â đৠâ âLook, I know Iâm not the easiest person to deal with.â And before Charles could say anything, he interrupted, âShut up, Charles. Let me finish. But⌠I love you guys, and you know I hate fighting with you.â
â đৠâ And when all the words had been said, you and the Monegasque welcomed your boyfriend into your arms. Maybe it was at that very moment, with Max trapped like a sandwich between your bodies, that he realized the apartment, though everyone could feel free there, wasnât really his safe place, his stronghold. His true refuge was being between your arms, surrounded by two pairs of arms, with his head nestled in the crook of your neck, while Charles left a kiss on his cheek and along his jawline.
â đৠâ âWe love you, mon amour,â Charles murmured between kisses. Max took a deep breath, sinking even deeper into your arms. âI think I love you both even more.â

(Slice of Life, Established Relationship, Marriage, Domestic Fluff, just all around Tooth-Rotting Fluff, Anniversary)
Summary:
Usually Charles would be rather quick to find him or call out to him, when he got home. Today, the only answer he got, was the sound of something being dropped in the hall and then the repeated opening and closing of the front door.
He had left again.
Max furrowed his brows. Why would he leave again?
-----------------------
Max has the perfect plan for the perfect anniversary dinner. But when your husband is unpredictable at the best of times, there is no way it is going to be that easy.
Read it on Ao3 or below. :)
(I hope you enjoy and I'd love to hear your thoughts! :3)
------------------
Max couldnât help smiling when he heard the familiar rattle of the front door opening and closing.
Right on time.
"Hello there!", he called from his place at the stove into the general direction of the hallway.
He had been at it for about 2 hours now â prepping and cooking the perfect anniversary dinner. Carefully planning everything to be done exactly when Charles would come home. So far most of it had worked out perfectly, but as he waited for an answer from his husband, he got the feeling it would not stay this easy.
Usually Charles would be rather quick to find him or call out to him, when he got home. Today, the only answer he got, was the sound of something being dropped in the hall and then the repeated opening and closing of the front door.
He had left again.
Max furrowed his brows. Why would he leave again?
As far as Max remembered, Charles had left with no luggage except for his backpack that morning. And he hadnât mentioned he was going grocery shopping today either. Had he maybe forgotten something in the car?
But as Max waited for the more distant sounds of car doors clapping, through the open kitchen window, he grew worried.
Was he missing something?
It wasnât so much the fact that Charles had left the flat immediately after arriving, but more the lack of a response all together. Normally he would at least get a verbal acknowledgement, but today he hadnât heard Charles say anything, not even to the cats, that were sure to have swarmed him as soon as he opened the door.
He waited a bit longer, to see if Charles maybe really just went to the car or the mailbox. But when after 10 minutes there was still no sign of the Monegasque, Max became even more worried.
As he looked at the pots and pans on the stove, the set kitchen table and half plated food, he began to think that he was indeed missing something.
They hadnât talked about any elaborate plans for their first wedding anniversary, because, despite the winter break, both had known theyâd need to work that day. But Max had spontaneously decided to just be that guy and reschedule half his meetings, so he could at least prepare a special dinner for the two of them. Seeing as it was meant to be a surprise, Max also hadnât mentioned it to Charles. He didnât expect it would be a problem. Surely his husband mustâve noticed the coat on the rag and the light under the kitchen door.
But apparently he hadnât.
Because the only thing Max found when he walked through the flat into the hallway, was the hastily dropped backpack in the corner.
Still confused, Max turned around and began looking for his phone. He had planned everything to the minute and if Charles stayed gone for any longer, most of the food would be cold.
Predictably his phone had gotten lost in the kerfuffle that was cooking dinner and soon he had turned over every single item in the kitchen twice, without having found it.
Max was sure it had to be in the kitchen, because he had used it as a timer.
But when had that been? And hadn't he gone to the bedroom to change after that?
Just as he entered the bedroom and saw his phone lying right in the middle of the bed - taunting him - he heard the front door open for the third time in the last hour.
Max made sure not to actually run out of the bedroom, but in case Charles decided to leave again he needed to be quick this time.
It appeared that he didnât need to worry though, because he found his husband in the hall, slowly taking of his shoes while holding what looked to be a king-sized bouquet of roses in all different colours.
So thatâs why he had left.
There was a flower shop at the end of the street, where they often got some thing or other for special occasions or sometimes just because. Charles loved to give Max flowers because he liked that each one had a specific meaning that didnât need words to convey. âYou just know by looking at them.â , he always said. Max was not as well versed in flower language as Charles, but he enjoyed having something colourful and pretty in the flat. It made it feel more like home.
Charles was wearing his headphones and kept nodding to the music, which explained his lack of response to Maxâs call earlier. It also explained why - when he looked up and saw Max coming towards him - his eyes got wide, he jumped and let out a high-pitched shriek. In his surprise he lost his grip on the bouquet, but managed to catch it just in time.
âOh my god Max, you almost scared me to death!â, he said, taking off his headphones and trying to catch his breath. âWhat are you already doing here I thought you would come home after me?â
Charlesâ voice was still slightly high pitched.
Max laughed.
"Itâs nice to see you to, love. Iâm sorry I scared you." , he apologized, not even trying to suppress his grin. Charles stepped a bit closer to hug and kiss him hello, Max melting into his embrace.
"I took half the day off to surprise you with dinner. I thought you would notice I was here.â, Max explained. âAnd I did call to you when you got home the first time.ââ He raised one eyebrow at Charles who just looked at him confused, which made Max's grin get even wider.
âButâ, he continued, âyou keep insisting on listening to your music on maximum volume. So I probably couldâve used a megaphone and you wouldnât have heard me.â Understanding bloomed in Charlesâ eyes and he had the decency to look sheepish.
Max laughed again. "I tried to plan everything so we could eat right when you got here. But you sped out of the flat even faster than out the pit lane, so now itâs probably mostly cold.", he said, his eyes wandering to the bouquet still in Charles' hand. "Although I see you got something to make up for that?", Max smiled at the his husband and the Monegasque grinned back.
Then he cringed a little.
âOh Iâm sorry about earlier, I was just convinced you would come back later and so I didnât even spare a glance in any direction.", Charles said apologetically. He put his free arm around Maxâs waist and continued. "I just wanted to get the flowers sorted, so you could see them on the counter right when you got home.â
That made Maxâs smile grow impossibly wider.
âSeems like we got similar ideas.â, Max said, âBut as always I seem to be just a tad bit faster.â
He grinned into the kiss Charles gave him for his arrogance.
âAs always you are a prick. But you made me dinner, so you are forgiven.â Charles replied, his eyes full of mirth and his words without bite. Then his look went soft and he put his other arm, still holding the flowers, around Maxâs waist to pull them closer, foreheads touching.
âHappy anniversary, chĂŠri.â, Charles whispered.
Max put his arms around Charlesâ neck.
âHappy anniversary.â, he smiled at his husband and pulled him in for a kiss.
Even after one year Max still couldnât believe he got to call this man, this impossibly perfect man his husband of all things. It was intoxicating to think that only one year ago, they had stood at the altar, surrounded by flowers and their closest friends and family. And today, they got to celebrate all over again.
Max broke the kiss and giggled at the thought, that he was surrounded by flowers once again. Charles looked at him confused but Max just wiggled out of his embrace, took his free hand and led him to the kitchen. Charlesâ eyes growing wide at the scene in front of them.
Max had tried to think of everything. Had tried to make it as romantic as possible. He put candles and rose petals on the table, got their best plates out and had prepared some of their favourite dishes, in addition to some theyâd had at their wedding.
Charles tugged at Maxâs hand and pulled him into another heart-meltingly soft kiss. "Thank you for this", he said, cupping Maxâs face with one hand.
"Everything for you, Schatje", Max replied with a fond smile. "Thank you for the flowers. They are beautiful.â Charles smiled and kissed him again.
They revelled in each others touch and it was another few minutes until they broke apart again. The candles were half burned down and most of the food cold at this point, but neither of them cared as they sat down and started to recount their days to each other â Max listening intently to everything that had happened at Charlesâ countless meetings and Charles laughing loudly at Max describing the look on Christianâs face when he had rescheduled most of his day on account of âhusbandly dutiesâ.
For all the worries heâd had about planning, Max thought to himself that night - lying in bed, Charles tightly snuggled to his side and flowers on the night stand - it had all worked out perfectly in the end.
Sure his planning hadn't actually worked out all the way, but what was a bit of cold food, when he had all he needed right there beside him.
Charles always brought chaos into his order.
But - Max concluded while slowly drifting to sleep - what would he be without it.
Ok, so what about a head cannon of Lestappen and subdrop?
Max having a subdrop would be so soft. The next day he would be just down. He would curl up on the couch under a fluffy blanket which only ever Charles uses, but he feels like he needs that extra softness in that moment. He wouldnât be on his phone or anything he would be just laying and relaxing quietly. Charles would have no idea first what is going on until like 10 minutes when he would drop everything in the kitchen rush to Max, squeezing himself between his lover and the couch and would hold him so close. He would make sure Max is tucked in, and would pepper gentle kisses on the places which are above the blanket. He would tell Max how good he was last night and how proud he is, and would just lay there with him making Max feel content and safe. Then he would get up to make some coffee with small pieces of chocolate on the side, slowly making Max feel better. By the end of the day they would watch so many comedies and cat videos, and he would make sure Jimmy or Sassy would be always around Max, preferably purring, because he read somewhere it has healing effects, and even if he is wrong it canât hurt to try. Max would receive all the kisses and cuddles there are during the day.
Charles having a subdrop would be a bit different, he would try and power through it first, not giving in. He would start his day as usual just to end up a lot more annoyed by everything. He would try and listen to one of his playlist to cheer him up but it is not working too well. So after having a breakdown for not finding his phone for 2 minutes, Max would take everything out of his hands and would just hold him. Standing in the middle of the apartment they would just stand there for minutes. Then Max would walk Charles into the bathroom and would run a bath for him, basically forcing the brunette into the hot water to make him relax a bit. Charles would insist that he is fine until he is soaked in the bath realising how much his body and soul actually needed this. Max would sit with him, his back against the white ceramic, chest supporting Charles. His fingers would draw patterns on the freckled skin, he would massage Charlesâ wrists which are still a bit red and sore. Maybe even letting Charles have a small nap like this. Then he would make the perfect instant soup, to warm up his lover from the inside too. He would wrap him in the fluffy blanket, and would bring along Charles fav snacks, then they would go in a walk on the Sun, because Max is convinced that his South European lover is powered by the Sun and he needs some charge from time to time, his skin soaking in the warmth. Then they would just curl up on the bed watching some series, Max massaging Charles sore muscles and kissing them all over, telling him how proud and happy he is to have someone like Charles.
