a/n : hate this country but I had an idea bc of marvel entertainments insta post so yippeee, this is super short bc I have a gathering to go to in like an hour so apologies, Logan is afab he/him bc obviously

The front lawn of the mansion was filled with students, the mutants had never been big on the 4th of July, but any excuse to party they happily took. They had somehow convinced Scott to grill for them, although you could smell it burning. You and Logan sat on the roof, watching as a few teens gathered around Jubilee and begged her to put on a show for them. You lean back into his chest, letting out a content sigh. The warm summer breeze gently sweeping your hair out of your face.

"Jesus, she's gonna kill someone" He said, clearly noticing the Jubilee situation. She had given in, now shooting fireworks from her hands a little too close to the to the other kids.

"Jeans watching 'em, they're fine" You respond, giggling a bit and turning your head up to look at him. You reach up and grip his chin, pulling him into a kiss. You pull away and tuck your head under his in the crook of his neck.

The sun was slowly going down, painting the sky hues of pink and yellow. You could faintly hear all the kids laughing and yelling about Scotts poor cooking skills, Storm having to put out the 3rd grill fire in a row. Logan brought his hands to your hips, rubbing gentle circles on your hip bones. You two were sitting in silence, just listening to each other breathe.

When it was finally dark, a hush fell across the yard. Jubilee was entertaining, but the kids had gone into town and picked up some real fireworks. You lifted your head, and sat up so your back was flush with Logan. The fireworks danced and popped across the sky, the students craning their heads to see them. You were watching them too, but Logan was staring at you. You caught him in your peripheral vision, and smirked.

"Enjoying yourself?" You questioned.

"Light show and a pretty girl? Yeah I've had worse days" You laughed.

"Watch the fireworks, perv" You joke, turning your head back towards him. He grabs your face and runs his thumb across your jaw.

"Well, I'm a little distracted" He says before pulling you in for another kiss. You smile against his mouth and run your hand through his hair. He pulls you into his lap, and you pull away.

"What are you doing? We're on the roof, Logan" You say pretending to scold him, but the smile on your face gives you away.

"What? I wasn't doing anything" He says, rubbing his hand up and down your thigh.
