____________~☆°♡°☆°♡°☆~______________
Fallback Procedure Begin
They might have pushed Caine a little too far this time. This wasn't even the worst of it, but he was still going a little crazy and they needed to find a stop to it. Fast.
Pomni's idea was to put a bucket on Kingers head for some darkness. Her and Ragatha understood, and soon, so did the others. On why this was important. It would bring him to sanity. It just took way longer than normal.
"Hey Pomni" Kinger spoke softly.
Finally!!
Said Jester filled him in and they started with phase two of the plan.
Jax was already distracting the ringmaster. The others would join him soon enough as well while Pomni haunted for a computer for now bucket Kinger. She walked through the halls of the fake exit door once again, like she did when she first arrived, before grabbing the old computer with her transporting the hefty object to the chess peice.
"Do you need help with power or anything?" Pomni asked handing the keyboard to him.
"Nah, I can use my imagination for that"
Pomni took a deep breath
"You got this?"
"...I think so" Kinger spun the bucket around to the back of it as if it was a baseball cap. Even in serious times like this Kinger always knew how to pull some humor out of things. Even if he didn't realize it himself.
Kinger took a deep breath, pressing the button as it turned on. "It sure has been a while...I might need some time to get my bearings. Try to help the others distract Caine while I figure this out. He may sense something when I really get into it"
"Oh-Okay! I-I'll do that!" Pomni got up, determined to do her best to help everyone.
She moved towards the others away from the pillow fort. Or his impenetrable fortress as he calls it. Before stopping to thank him for helping them out with this and for everything.
Kinger watches her leave with longing before getting to work on hacking into Caines code.
This distraction turned into the biggest fit of Caines life. He finally snapped and now it was everyone's problem. The man glitched out so hard his voice got glitchy and deeper and he grew four more arms. Grabbing everyone in a rage he brought them to his face.
"Im gonna put you freaks in your place!" He threw them all into a dark space torturing them with their greatest fears and biggest insecurities.
Kinger got closer and closer to getting it but the code kept fighting back. He couldn't get the right password for an admin overdrive and he was freaking out trying to get everything together in time before Caine gave up and could find him.
Caine soon ripped everyone out of there and pinned them to the wall with his new five armed form. He was shouting at them about purpose and what he does for them all. Angry. Confused. Hurt. Crazy.
Kinger found Caines file during this time and accidentally clicked a button. The fallback system had begun. Everything was resetting, he had no control.
"Wait! No! S#!t!" He scrambled to try and fix it but nothing would work. The damage was done.
Caine suddenly popped over in normal form 7 feet away from everyone. Dropping everyone in the process due to the loss of the other hands. He couldn't move. The only functions he could use were his eyes and mouth, his body was still. Everyone stared up at him frozen. Unsure of what was happening but all assuming it was Kingers doing.
"But. Wait-"
Kinger walked out bucket still on his head looking at him too.
"What did you DO!?" Caine yelled "I can't move! You–" He paused mid sentence a wobbly smile starting to grace his features.
Kinger shrugged "I'm not exactly sure...but it seems to be working, you're stuck"
Caine tried his best to hold it in but he knew he can't hold on for long. Jax was the first to notice.
"Whats up with your face?" He spoke in a curious yet sassy way.
Canie huffed "N-Nothing! STOP ASKING!" Jax rolled his eyes and shrugged. The feeling kept spreading. Like tiny electric currents running all over his system.
Kinger jumped in "Caine...?"
"MHm?" He answered trying not to giggle.
"What are you feeling, physically?" The chess peice had an idea but he wasn't sure. Was something hurting him maybe?
"N-Nohothing! Shut up!"
There it was. Pomni got it right away.
"Oh my god...Caine? Are you ticklish? Is this tickling you right now? Whatever Kinger did" she said being a bit blunt but curious.
"N-NO! I-I'm nOhot!–this isn't!–I'M not a hUman, I don't understand?!–I don't hAhave! Such–!" He paused to hold his giggles back again.
"Oh my god! Thihis is gold!" Jax laughed a little and smirked.
his body slowly floated to the floor without his control. "H-Hey! NO! No no NO!"
"Well would you look at that" Zooble crossed their arms and stared at him struggling.
They all stood over their ringmaster as he burst out laughing on the floor. Unable to do anything about it.
Nobody knew how to feel. They all just looked as he laughed his head off and kept himself stuck in a t-pose.
"TUHuhurN IhIhihIT OHoHoff!!" He closed his eyes as Kinger looked at the computer sitting still, comfortably, inside his fortress. The loading bar read 66% complete. No wonder he was feeling it more now. But this was only 66% was Caine really that sensitive?
"I'm sorry Caine, I can't do anything until it loads completely. The fallback system is at 66%"
"Look at how the tables have turned!" Jax spoke up, the smirk in his tone more prominent then ever.
"Its kinda cute" Gangle spoke with a little giggle.
Ragatha smiled with her "a little yeah, its a complete switch up from what we were just experiencing..."
Caine groaned through his laughter in frustration "I AM NoHOT CUTE! I AHaM sTihihiLL GOD!!"
Pomni smirked "a pretty weak God if you're this ticklish at only 66%"
Caine tried to put on a mad face but its hard when a lot of your attention is being taken up by little ticklish jolts that keep increasing by the second.
"78% now" Kinger smiled
"You're moving up in numbers Caine! Maybe if we help you out it'll go by faster~" Jax smirked wiggling his fingers stepping closer to where Caine lay. The others catching on fast and all loving the idea.
"A chance for some well deserved revenge!" Zooble stepped up to him as well.
"This does seem like a fair trade for torturing us before" Gangle spoke joining them to where Caine was.
The other two, Pomni and Ragatha smirked at each other then at Caine as they walked to him as well. Kinger joined them too but kept an eye on the computer mostly.
"N-No...g-G-Guhuys WAhahait! I'm Sorry! I was Juhust alittle mAhahad! No neheed to Doho! This!" Caine tried to defend his case but it was too late.
"A little mad?" Pomni replied sarcastically
"Okay a lohot mad! But–"
"No but's! You had this coming!" Ragatha smirked again
"C-Cohome On! I–"
"85%"
With that, everyone began. All 60 wiggling fingers targeted every single spot on Caines body that could potentially be ticklish. It was a sensory overload. Caines AI couldn't process what was happening fast enough so his systems were getting weaker making it only tickle more.
"NOHOHO" Caines voice started getting glitchy again but in a more silly way this time.
"Awwww! Is our ringmaster a little ticklish?~" Jax teased.
"I bet it tickles so much huh Caine?~" Pomni joined in.
"STOHOHOHOP SHUHUT UHUHUP!"
"You're so adorable like this! I like this giggly version much better!" Ragatha smiled and continued.
"Tickle Tickle Tickle~" Gangle joined in on the teasing. Her tone light but teasy.
"You deserve this Caine, serves you right for thinking we'd let you get away with what you did" Zooble added to it.
"90%" Kinger called out with a smirk. His floating hands of tickly doom for Caine where under and on top of his left knee.
Gangle got under his right knee and thigh, her ribbons feeling like feathers to those areas.
Zooble and Ragatha got his underarms.
Pomni was on his ribs.
And Jax got his stomach.
No spot was left untickled. Caine was short circuiting. He didn't know if he loved it or hated it. It was all very confusing, but he couldn't think about it. He couldn't process anything but the tickles.
"It looks like I was right again Caine, our tickles are helping the system move faster~" Jax wiggled into his stomach a little harder at faster. Caine snorted and the area around him like the couch and a peice of the wall started glitching.
"You're almost there Caine, you can handle a bit more of this right?~" Pomni teased and moved her fingers down his ribs.
"STOHOHOHOP IHIHHIT! TUHUHURN IT OHOHOHOFF!" He squeaked as Kinger pinched his thigh too. Everyone still tickling him all at once.
"I already told ya buddy I can't, not until the systems finished resetting"
Zooble smirked "For now you're just gonna have to deal with this" they dragged a claw down his arm before going back to his underarm on the right.
"STOHOHOHOP!"
"Sorry Caine! But if it helps you look adorable" Ragatha smirked "Tickletickletickletickle!" She giggled herself and continued to tickle his left underarm.
Caine blushed through his laughter.
"Awwww!" Ragatha and Gangle said at the same time.
"Theres that smile~" Gangle teased as he moved faster under his right knee making him snort again.
"Like a little piggy" Jax joked as Ragatha scolded him
"Jax!"
"What?"
"NAHAHAHA!" His laughter was so loud. It was adorable, but if they weren't all due for some revenge majority of them would've needed to plug their ears.
"99%" Kinger exclaimed as they all got faster, their tickling and teasing becoming more and more intense.
"I'm gonna getcha!"
"Look at you~ so weak, so ticklish~"
"We should've done this to you ages ago"
"Tickle Tickle Tickle~"
...pop...
Caine disappeared and reappeared outside of the circle. Fully in control of his body again. The tickling and teasing came to an abrupt halt. They all looked over at him as Caine looked down in embarrassment and regret.
"No...I was awful to you all...and I know you can't forgive me, at least not yet! But I promise I'll be a better host. I'll try to be from here on out..." He spoke sincerely.
Jax shrugged and put his hands behind his head acting like he doesn't care. "Whatever"
"Thats a start" Zooble said
It would take awhile for things to change for good. But, this was a good start.
"And if you don't change at all well...we might just have to give you another system reset~" Pomni smirked wiggling her fingers at him making him gasp and fly away at the speed of light.
Everyone laughed before heading separate ways to try and rest.

Cherish The People Around You || The Amazing Digital Circus Tickle Fic ||
A/N: SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 8!!! this one is really angsty in the beginning but it turns into hurt/comfort down the line. let this be your warning though that it is a little depressing. written from kinger's POV
Summary: When the battle is over and the world lies still, the ones you love will keep you moving. Kinger and Pomni share a moment of peace.
Word count: 2,831
---
Kinger once had hoped for a moment like this.
A moment where there was faith that he would soon leave this horrible world and return home. To reality. To sanity. To security.
That was in his very early days in the Circus, when the threat of digital damnation was still fresh on everyone's minds. Like Pomni, he had been determined to find a way to escape. If anyone could get them out of this mess, it was a programmer, and Scratch was an even more experienced programmer than him. Surely with their combined expertise, they could figure this out.
For years, they searched, and dug, and tried, but they were still no closer to finding an exit. Hopelessness, like a parasitic virus seeping into one's blood, had started to overtake everyone. One by one, the original testers lost hope in ever making it home. Kinger watched helplessly as each one of his friends slowly sank into despair, until that despair transformed them.
Scratch was the first to abstract, and Kinger's chances of escape sunk down with him into the deep dark of the cellar.
He couldn't do this alone. Not without Scratch. But he had to try.
And try he did, for as long as he could.
He finally gave up after Queenie had...
Kinger never expected to pick up another computer ever again. He almost didn't want to. The memories of him and their team furiously looking for a way out were not ones he wanted to return to.
But his friends needed his help, and he would do anything, anything at all, to keep them safe.
He had only meant to put Caine to sleep, or at the very least disable his power for a little while. By the time he had realized what he had actually done, it was already too late to stop it.
Caine was dead.
He had killed Caine, and the lifeforce of the Circus had apparently died with him.
The once-brightly-colored walls were now muted and dark, and the peaceful quiet they had grown so accustomed to had been swallowed up by this dreadful silence; a requiem of the wonderland it once was.
There were gaps now in the fabric of this world. Small holes that had yawned themselves open during the Circus's initial decay. Who knows if there'd be more, or if the existing ones would ever repair?
Thankfully, no one had been hurt. Bruised, exhausted, and afraid, but not hurt.
This moment that Kinger had once prayed for, of hope and chances and the future, was now a bitter taste in his mouth, as him and his friends all wondered what would come next.
The week that followed was an uneasy one. They were still so many unanswerable questions about what came next. Would the Circus collapse without Caine here to hold it together? Would they be freed then? Would they be erased?
They didn't have answers, or securities, or stability. All they had was each other, and that might have been the only reason each person held it together.
Kinger was trying his best to keep everyone's spirits up, which proved rather difficult given his own were not very high. But he felt a duty of care for these five, and although he knew he couldn't fix what had gone wrong, he still foolishly wanted to make it better somehow. At least provide some solace.
With things so out of wack, he wasn't even sure if the bucket on his head was still necessary to keep him grounded, but he didn't dare risk taking it off and losing himself. Not right now.
One day, he found Pomni sitting atop the stage, all alone. From underneath the bucket, he could see that she was just staring off into the distance, focused on nothing in particular.
Kinger knew that look well. It wasn't quite a feeling of sadness, exactly, more so like a feeling of nothingness. An emotional void. He knew from experience it was an isolating feeling.
He gingerly sat down beside her. She looked so dazed, he wasn't sure of his sudden presence would frighten her.
Kinger turned to her. "How are you holding up?"
From where he sat, he couldn't see her face, or anything really, so he couldn't tell if she had startled or not.
He heard Pomni sigh. "Better than the others, I guess. Just... overwhelmed."
She sounded so tired. Kinger felt his heart ache.
He felt the inclination to say something more to comfort her, but there wasn't really anything to say. At least not anything she didn't already know. He didn't have any information that could make the future look less... hopeless.
Pomni spoke again. "I was really scared. When he... I felt so powerless. I was scared he would find out what we were doing. I was scared..." She ran out of breath, and took another. "I knew pushing him was dangerous, but I was so scared" she repeated.
Kinger guessed that "pushing him" was how they had distracted Caine. If Caine had really gone off his rocker like Pomni said he had, he couldn't imagine how intimidating it must have been to provoke such a being.
Something within him twisted with guilt. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that." A wave of nausea came over him as he realized he didn't know what exactly Caine had done in his rage. Had he hurt the players? A chill ran up his body. "I hope at least whatever Caine did to you wasn't painful-"
"Huh?" Pomni interrupted. She sounded confused. "No, I... I mean, yes, I was scared of getting tortured again." Tortured. The word made Kinger's stomach heave. "But I was mostly scared of what would happen if our distraction didn't work. He noticed that you weren't there with us and almost went and found you. He was angry at us, but I don't know what would have happened if he found out you were trying to control him. I thought he was going to hurt you, and I panicked. I was desperate to make Caine stay, and I was terrified at the thought that he would come for you if we failed."
A crack ran its way through Kinger's heart. Pomni had stared certain disaster and pain in the face and dared to antagonize it, all because she was concerned for him?
After everything that's happened, after everything his actions have put everyone through, the last person that Pomni should concern herself with was him.
He was the one looking after her, not the other way around.
At that moment, his mind almost filled with should've's and would've's (should've worked faster, should've thought of a better plan) but ultimately he knew that there was nothing he could have done differently. He had approached the situation with the utmost care and precision, and hindsight did not change what variables he had to work with.
Still, Pomni putting herself in harm's way for his sake hurt to hear.
"You don't have to worry about me, I've told you." His voice came out more strained than he intended. "You need to worry about keeping yourself and the others safe."
Pomni's tone clipped a little. "And that doesn't include you?"
Kinger couldn't see her face, but he could feel her eyes on him.
He knew he had no argument to stand on. If he were in her position, he would have done the same. He would never have excluded her from his worry, no matter how much she told him not to.
"It... I know, it's just..." Kinger trailed off. He wasn't used to being so at a loss for words. "I can't stand the thought of you putting yourself in harm's way. I would have never forgiven myself if..."
He didn't have the courage to speak it. What might have happened if Kinger hadn't shut Caine down in time.
He felt a small hand grab his. "We're all okay, and we're all in this together" Pomni said.
We're all okay.
We're all in this together.
Kinger took a deep breath (a much-needed one).
"Yeah. We're all okay." He repeated, mostly to himself.
Pomni's voice lifted a little. "And on the bright side, now we have the space to clear our heads. I, for one, could really use a break from the constant adventuring."
"You can say that again."
It was quiet for a few moments. While Pomni's optimism was still going strong, the weight of the past few days must have taken a toll on her. He felt her hand gently squeeze his.
Pomni started to speak, suddenly much less confident than before. "Can I um..."
Kinger waited patiently, giving her hand an encouraging squeeze in return.
"I think I need a hug right now..." she admitted quietly.
She needn't say anything more. Kinger immediately released her hand in order to wrap his hands around her.
Or try, at least.
He reached out to grab where he thought she was, only to touch thin air. His hands now fumbled awkwardly around trying to find her.
He heard Pomni snort. "I'm over here" she giggled. The sound brought a smile to his face (or it would if he had one).
He chuckled at himself. "Uhhh where?"
"Down here."
He directed his hands a little further down until he finally met solid form. A form that squeaked and jumped away from his touch.
"Quit it, you're tickling me" Pomni giggled.
Kinger's smile widened. His face was fortunately hidden beneath the bucket.
"What was that? Where are you?" Kinger asked dumbly, dramatically reaching his hands out into nothingness. "I- I can't see anything."
Though he couldn't see, he was almost certain Pomni was rolling her eyes at him.
"Ha-ha, you already found me, you doofus."
"Is that you, Pomni? I can't find you..." Kinger pretended to accidentally grab her at her sides, and began to tickle. "Oh! Looks like I've got something."
He felt her wriggle around beneath his hands. "Kihihihinger!"
"Pomni?" Kinger addressed the empty air. "I think I found someone else with us. They sure do feel a lot like you." He moved his hands to prod and poke all over Pomni's body, from the top of her head, all the way down to her hips.
"Hehehehehe!" She giggled.
"And they sure do sound a lot like you."
"Kihihinger, yohou knohohow it's mehehe!"
"Do I?" Kinger asked. He was having way too much fun with this silly little game. His corny jokes and pretend-obliviousness were making her laugh, and his heart swelled at the sound. It was so blissfully carefree and relaxed: two things that Pomni had not been for the past two weeks.
With everything going on with Caine and the fake exit, Kinger feels like he's seen less and less of the Pomni he's grown so fond of. The self-assured, confident Pomni who had the self-awareness to put herself first sometimes, to take up space and shine like the bright young woman he always knew that she was.
It saddened Kinger to watch such wonderful light flicker out and dim in the midst of all this despair and disaster. She was strong, yes, and brave, but she should not have to be brave. She should be on the outside, building a life for herself, making bad decisions and laughing about them in hindsight because who cares? She should be in some cozy little apartment, reading books by the window, calling her parents every night because they are so eager to hear from her. She should get to be twenty-five. Kinger had already lived his life, but hers had barely begun.
If Kinger could condemn his own soul in exchange for Pomni's freedom, he would do so without a second thought.
But while she was here, in this hellish nightmare, he would look after her. Keep her steady, calm her fears, make her laugh. He'd make this good for her. Somehow.
For now, he settled for playing the fool in this silly game of tickle monster he'd found himself in.
Amidst all of her struggling, Pomni had leaned herself against Kinger and was actively pushing herself into him. Perhaps she thought that if brought herself closer, he would stop "looking" for her. Or maybe, perhaps, she wasn't trying to escape at all.
A gloved finger delicately wormed into her neck, making her screech with laughter. "YEHEHEHE- Youhu're suhuch a jeheherk!"
"Well that's not very nice, whoever-you-are. I ought to teach you some manners" Kinger scolded playfully, taking one hand and clawing into her belly.
Pomni squealed loudly, startling Kinger, and erupted into giddy laughter.
He must have hit a bad spot, Kinger thought to himself.
Through her proximity, he could feel Pomni's arms waving around in the air, probably a reflex to push his arms away. He then heard her groan. "Whyhy dohon't you have anyhyhyhy ahaharms dahahammit!"
Kinger chuckled at her "complaining". Under normal circumstances, he might have worried about this kind of touch being unwelcome, but he knew Pomni well enough to know that she could have easily stopped him if she really felt like it.
Still swatting aimlessly for arms he didn't have, Pomni grabbed at his hands tickling away at her. Not to push or to struggle, but to lightly pat like she were delivering a slap on the wrist.
Pomni felt so small here next to him. Granted, that was usually the case given how much taller his avatar was than everyone else's, but it was very exaggerated now. Holding her here in his arms, it was almost like he was holding his own child. Which felt like a ridiculous comparison. Pomni was a grown woman, and Kinger knew that, but he couldn't help the paternal sense of care he felt for her. For all of the Circus, really.
Pomni continued to squeal at him. "Kinger! Ihihit's meheheheh, it's Pohomni!"
"Well, how do I know you're my Pomni?"
Pomni struggled to speak through her mania. "Bec-because we went ohon- ohon that horror ahahahadventure togehether!"
Kinger had to give her credit: she was doing well at still managing to form sentences.
"Oh, alright, alright. I guess you must be Pomni" Kinger conceded, stopping his tickly assault. "You know, you're lucky Caine never found out you're so ticklish."
Pomni sat up, still coming down from her giggle fit.
"You know," she said, "I never did get that hug."
Kinger had completely forgot that's where all of this had started. "Oh, right!" He quickly scooped her up into a snug embrace.
The bucket on his head, while preserving his sanity, had also left him completely vulnerable to the visual world around him.
He was effectively as blind as a bat, and Pomni's impish grin went unnoticed.
Without warning, he suddenly felt two small hands scribble up and down his trunk.
His squawk of laughter carried a metallic ring from inside the bucket, causing Pomni to laugh along with him.
He twisted about, practically folding himself in half trying to block his most sensitive spots. But Pomni was dogged in her revenge plot, and any place he tried to protect became the jester's next target.
"Wahahait! Wahahai-" Kinger wheezed, before disolving into a wild cackle. Damn his absurd ticklishness!
Underneath all of the noise, he heard Pomni mocking him. "Kinger? Is that you in there? I- I can't see your face."
That sneaky girl had gotten the drop on him. It was that kind of fighting spirit that Kinger missed so much. He felt a surge of pride, even while clearly losing himself to this mirthful madness.
He didn't have the heart to extinguish her fun right away. He let himself get tickled stupid in the name of fairness, and in the name of "it's been a while since he's laughed like this".
Before long, though, he found himself tapping out. He wasn't as young as he used to be, and wasn't quite as durable in the tickle fight department anymore.
Pomni graciously released him, but still held onto their hug.
Kinger didn't mind it in the slightest, and would have easily sat in that hug for hours, but even through his declining laughter, the noticeably tight squeeze to Pomni's embrace signaled to him that something might be wrong. Had he missed something?
Kinger placed a delicate hand at the back of her head. "Everything alright?"
He felt Pomni nod enthusiastically against his robe.
"Yeah, I'm just... I'm really glad you're here."
That was all that Kinger could possibly hope for. To be someone that made this whole experience just a little bit easier.
Pomni had made such a unique impact so quickly since joining the Circus, finding her way into his heart and keeping him fighting for what he used to believe was a meaningless life. To know that he had impacted her in kind gave him hope. Hope that all was not lost. Not as long as they all had each other.
Ignoring the verklempt tightening in his throat, Kinger smiled happily.
