Thereâs some profanity (hell, damn, and arse), but aside from that, itâs relatively clean.â

âGood morning your highness.â the princess was woken by her handmaiden drawing back the curtains.
(Y/N) squinted at the brightness, groaning as she rubbed her eyes.âGood morning. My, itâs a sunny day today.â
âYes, perfect weather to stroll around the castle and the grounds. You know, I hear that the knights of Camelot are set to train today.â
She had a smirk on her face, and (Y/N) bashfully smiled as she slowly got out of bed. The princess knew what she was referring to, or rather, who she was referring to. (Y/N) had caught the eye of a certain knight, he wasnât too bad to look at either. Sir Leon had immediately stood out to her, she was captured by his features, embarrassingly being caught Â
They had met on her first visit to Camelot when her father had made an alliance with King Uther. She was only from a small kingdom, and although her father a king and she a princess, not many people knew of their reputation. However, they were soon recognised for their exquisite and pristine swords by their talented blacksmiths. These weapons were extremely durable and could slice through just about anything that got in its way. Uther realised the potential they held, and sent a letter to them himself to create said alliance.Â
Considering (Y/N)âs family were not classed as the strongest allies, Uther had no intention of sealing their friendship through the childrenâs marriage. Arthur would be saved to wed when the right ally came along. However, he was shocked when Sir Leon approached him to ask permission of courtship to the princess. Ar first he thought it preposterous, why on Earth would a princess want to be with a knight? But he realised that he could keep his new allies close like this, agreeing that the young man may court (Y/N).
(Y/N) had been delighted at the news, her parents not so much. Although they had nothing against Leon, knowing that he was a brave and loyal man, of course they had intended for (Y/N) to marry someone of the same title. But there was no point trying to change their daughters mind, especially when they saw how upset she became when they voiced their opinions. Besides, they had two sons they could make use of.
âIt is a beautiful day your highness, Iâm glad youâre also making the most of it.â Morgana greeted (Y/N) as they passed each other in the corridor.
They each gave a small curtsy, as did their handmaids.âIndeed. I could not waste a day like this, especially in Camelot.â
âIâm glad you have settled in well, though you always do. Where are you headed?â
âWell, I thought I may as well take a walk over the grounds of the castle.â
âPerfect!â Morgana quickly replied.âI was just thinking of doing that myself. Would you mind if I joined you?â
(Y/N) smiled.âOf course not.â
As they began their stroll, (Y/N) noticed how happy Morgana looked.âIs there something on your mind Morgana? Or someone perhaps?â
Morgana giggled.âOh donât be silly. It is nothing like that, rather, I am very pleased for a friend of mine.â
âAnd who would that be?â
âYes! It has been months since you last visited, poor Leon hasnât smiled since you left.â
âHe hasnât?â (Y/N) pouted, hating to hear of her love in such a sorrow state.
âWhy would he when the love of his life is no longer here?â
âWill it be strange for you to live here? Do you think youâll be happy?â
âI know that wherever I end up, as long as Iâm with Leon, then I will be infinitely happy.â
âI just know he would have said the same. So let me guess, youâre talking a walk to catch a glimpse of him?â
âThereâs no point denying it. Yes I am. I understand he must perform his duties before we are to meet in the day, though I do wish the Prince would give him at least one morning off."
"Maybe I can have a word with Arthur for you."
"We both know that would just end up with you two arguing."
The two ladies continued their conversation as they stepped into the sun, gazing at the beautiful, colourful flowers that adorned the fields surrounding the training ground. In a way, it was a shame that the knights had to train on the grounds, because they kicked up the dirt and grass, their weapons sprawled around the place. However, (Y/N) took no notice of that anymore, instead her eyes went straight to her love.
He was in the midst of a mock one on one fight with Arthur, looking like they were demonstrating certain strategies and tactics to new soldiers. He was so glorious, it was almost elegant how he fought. She was captivated for a moment, except when those dreaded thoughts seeped in. She was incredibly proud of him, but wished he wouldn't have to put himself in any extreme situations. It was great that the future King of Camelot trusted Leon the most, but he was the biggest target in the kingdom.
As (Y/N) was about to dismiss those sad thoughts, she heard someone let out a wail of pain, her eyes snapping to Leon as he fell to the floor, clutching onto his ribs. Arthur was immediately beside him, as was (Y/N) even though she was struggling to run in her dress and heels.
"Stand back!" Arthur instructed everyone else, looking up at a young boy to scold him."And that is why we don't let you use the actual weapons in training."
The boy hung his head, embarrassed and fearing for his life. Leon had been hit harshly in his ribs, moaning from just trying to breathe because he was winded. (Y/N) grabbed his hand, pushing back his hair that had stuck to his forehead with sweat.
"You're OK my love, I'm here, I'm here with you." she reassured him.
"Damn!" he hissed as he tried to move.
"Don't move Leon, you have to stay still." Arthur said."Merlin is fetching Gaius as we speak."
"I'm sure I am just badly winded and bruised, I will just need to lay down for a while before returning to normal tomorrow." Leon struggled to say.
"Leon, listen to me," (Y/N) demanded,"you are injured. If you dare do anything Gaius says you shouldn't do, you will have me to answer to."
She said it with a smile, causing the knights around her to laugh, even Leon smiled. He was grateful to have her there. She always supported him, despite not wanting him to be in any danger. He clutched onto her delicate hand, desperately trying not to squeeze too hard as to hurt her.
Gaius kept up with Merlin as best as he could when they reached the field, slowly kneeling down beside the injured Knight. He told Merlin to take off the armour as carefully as he could so he could have a better look. Gaius lifted Leon's undershirt, frowning when he gently pressed and ran his hand along the wounded area.
"I'm afraid one of his ribs are broken, he's lucky it wasn't more. He'll have to rest for a long time." Gaius concluded.
"Six weeks at a minimum."
"Leon, stay calm, you must remain still." (Y/N) gently reminded him.
"Let's get him to the infirmary, I need to examine him more for any other injuries, and give him something to ease the pain."
(Y/N) held onto Leon's hand the entire walk. He was being carefully carried on a stretcher, and it was difficult to manoeuvre him up the stairs. But they managed it without causing too much discomfort. Only (Y/N) stayed with Leon, Arthur took some convincing to get rid of, but Leon didn't want to keep the Prince away from his duties, noble as always. After Gaius gave his final diagnosis, luckily it was only the ribs, he gave Leon a concoction to kill off the pain, though warned it would make him very drowsy once it kicked in.
"You scared me today. I know it wasn't your fault, I just wished you would put yourself first for once." (Y/N) sighed.
Leon lazily smiled."I am a Knight, I put other people's safety before mine. Especially yours."
"But how am I to be protected if you aren't there?"
"You make a very good point."
"I love you Leon, I can't lose you." she stroked back his hair, loving his curls.
"You won't. You won't ever have to think like that."
"I know. It was just awful seeing you hurt today."
He slowly reached her hand up to his lips, kissing it firmly."I give you my word, on my honour, that I will always be there for you my love."
"I have been so blessed to have you."
Leon's eyelids started to droop, feeling the effects starting to slowly work. He felt even more tired than when he first arrived to the infirmary.
"I do believe that I am the blessed one, for I have a princess that loves me, and I am able to openly love her back."
She giggled as she noticed bun trying to fight to keep his eyes open, his sentences now slow and almost mumbled.
"You should...enjoy your day...my love." Leon managed to get out.
"I will stay here with you."
"I know. But I shall remain by your side until you wake."
"Sh, keep your eyes closed Leon, you must rest."
He hummed in response, letting his body relax into the bed, head lulling to the side. (Y/N) silently kissed him on his forehead, trying to mask her worry as Merlin brushed past.
"Will be be alright?" she asked the manservant.
He stopped what he was doing, glancing at Leon."He's gone through worse your highness. He will come back stronger like he always does."
"I hope so. I would like to see my fiance without a bruised eye in our wedding day."
