everyone??? was talking about how they were gonna do it?????
and like?? so many people came??? especially for a school in the deep south!!
like it's impossible to get high schoolers to shut up but. we were completely silent
also like?? at l e a s t five people walked out of my class with me. which is a relatively good amount for a small class
and!! the whole!! drama!! class!! left!! all of them!!
administrators helped make sure kids were safe since some people were making threats against the walkout (ex. taking names, ect.)
some assholes that came only to get out of class and were whispering were taken back inside by the librarian who came out with us
the girl that organized ours would like? read off a name of a victim every minute and then we would be silent. and everyone bowed their heads
effects of the walkout: my seventy four year old conservative and very southern grandfather is now advocating for gun control laws!!
also we had a sub in my class so I didn't know if she would let us leave?? but then she did!!
and when we got back into class, some kids were talking about how they didn't see the point and she was like "it's for the victims?? obviously??" and they started to argue but she immediately shut them down. it was nice
after our seventeen minutes, the student that was reading off the names/organized it invited us to come up and talk if we felt like we needed to say something!!
a bunch of people came up and talked about it!!
beforehand when we met in the atrium, people were introducing themselves to the other students who they never talked to before and were hugging and conversing and it was awesome
