Lekeu - Violin Sonata in G major

Just discovered this awesome work, from a short lived composer. While some have commented that his music is melancholic, and in his own words, he said “Joy is a thousand time harder to paint than suffering”, I think the finale of this work shows a great transition from somber to delight. In a way, it’s reminiscent of Cesar Franck, who was his teacher at one point. Anyway, this is a powerful late Romantic work that makes use of all the expressive qualities the two instruments have to offer.
