I'm a lady, 💯, but people with a wicked sense of humor who don't get offended?

If you look back at some of my recent reblogs, you can tell, I've been getting into Starkid a lot recently, specifically the Hatchetfield trilogy. To clarify, I haven't seen NPMD or Nightmare Time yet, but I do plan on watching them.

Recently, I watched TGWDLM and Black Friday for the first time. I absolutely loved TGWDLM, but I had pretty mixed feelings about Black Friday, which confused me. Because while I've only seen two Starkid shows before Black Friday (Holy Musical B@man and TGWDLM), I loved both shows so much, and Black Friday was, objectively speaking, just as good as those two shows. It's an amazing critique of consumerism and capitalism and had emotional story beats that hit me very hard. I honestly cried more watching Black Friday than I did TGWDLM. I kept having this cognitive dissonance with the show, trying to come up with a reason for why I didn't like it as much as TGWDLM, and like feeling both it should've been its own unrelated story, not set in the same Multiverse, but also that it wouldn't work as well being a self contained story. And I didn't wanna make a post about how I was feeling about it until now, because I finally realized what it was:

ITS A MUSICAL

Which feels like a weird critique to have about a musical with amazing music and amazing performers, but it's because it's set in the same Multiverse as TGWDLM. In The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, being a musical is a fundamental core part of the story; there is an in-world reason for why it is a musical. Whereas in Black Friday, it's a musical because that's the genre of show it is. I don't think there's anything wrong with it on its own, but because they are established to be in the same Multiverse it feels contradictory and less thought out. Yes, I understand that I am currently missing information that can be provided in NPMD and Nightmare Time, but it still feels weird to me to establish a universe that is canonically not a musical and then have the other shows set in the same universe be a musical for the sake of being a musical. I also get that there is some weird timeline and parallel universe shenanigans going on in Black Friday and the Hatfield universe, but it still just feels weird to establish the universe as not musical and then just make everything a musical, y'know?

So Khan is played by Ricardo Montalban ,a familiar face on film and television .He originally played Khan in the episode Space Seed as just a villain of the week and 15 years later got promoted to the big bad of Star Trek II

So nowadays with distance,home video ,streaming and countless wikis ,we know all this,you can revisit Space Seed or look it up before watching Wrath of Khan ,we can accept Montalban as this character

He was however in ONE episode,and while episode guides were a thing and a big part of the shows popularity was it was rerun a bunch ,home video hadnt quite hit as big yet ,so while I am sure the big fans knew who he was ,I imagine a few didnt.

Now the film explains who the character is very well,this is not what I want to discuss.....I want to discuss the actor

Montalban was fantastic actor with a decades long career ....But he also had a very big TV show around the time he did Wrath of Khan and he worried people might not accept him as a villain due to that particular role

So while im sure the hardcore fans were "Holy cow,They brought back Khan " and fans of Montalban were like "Oh cool Ricardo Montalban is the bad guy ".......I also imagine there were a few casual filmgoers who were like "Why is Mr Roarke from Fantasy Island fighting Captain Kirk ?"and thats my question were ther Mr Roarke in space jokes or stuff like that in relation to Wrath of Khan
