It really doesn't require much pre-knowledge of the source material. All you might need to know is that it takes place in the same universe as the X-Men, Summerland is a sort of safe house/rehabilitation center for abused, neglected, and otherwise traumatised mutants, and Cary and Kerry share a body except when they don't, which maybe you've followed me long enough to pick up on anyway.
