Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun
La Brun, a portrait painter grew up with little formal training from her father, who passed away when she turned 12. However, by the late 18th century, Le Brun began painting Queen Mari Antoinette. She painted over 30 portraits for the queen.
When she married and the French revolution began rearing, she quickly fled from France, without her husband who was a gambler. She moved to Italy where she had a relatively successful career and raised her child as a single mother. Le Brun died at the age of 86.
