Nerd rage
After decades of delivering a rock solid and learnable operating system, the debian project started down the systemd path. Bye bye sanity. In version 7, systemd was optional, in version 8, it was the default (but avoidable by clever monkeys). It's unclear if version 9 (due to be released later this year) will allow life without systemd.
So, if I want to have an operating system with security updates, I may have to go distibution hopping to find one that supports all the software I use regularly but doesn't require systemd. I really don't want to jump to OpenBSD. While OpenBSD has a very secure operating system kernel, its userland system tools are, on average, of shockingly lesser quality than the GNU tools. But still better than systemd's tools.
