I'm not even close to being proficient enough in Persian to be able to write a coherent text about this song, like I did for the Swedish födelsedagssång. Instead, I wrote out the lyrics to the Persian birthday song in order to get some writing practice and tried translating them word by word with my dictionary. I wasn't able to find a translation for every single word, but overall, I think I managed to get pretty close to the actual meaning!

Here are the lyrics in text form:

ManotoPlus: 50 mins. I felt a little frustrated because I feel like I'm plateauing in my ability to understand. Also I really wanted to know about their tips for sleeping better at night (and felt bad for the lady trying to do guided mediation with horrible feedback and a weird screechy alarm in the background). They showed a French car (Matra) that I've never heard about before. I'm not too sure the point they were making about it though. Something about a sale?

Reading

Advanced Farsi Reading: 15mins. About half a page (they are very small pages). I'm reading twice in a row because I have to do my assignment tomorrow and I will be writing for that.

Studying

Mango languages: 15 mins. Building on past lessons.

Dar e dizi baaze, hayaaye gorbe kojaa rafte? (در دیزی بازه، حیای گربه کجا رفته)

Literally it means: the lid of the crock is off, but where is the cat’s shame?

Or, it’s true that the lid of the crock is off, but the cat shouldn’t be so shameless as to steal the food inside!

Figuratively, it is used to show your disapproval of someone taking advantage of others’ kindness or trust.

It means, I’m being this open and honest with you, (or, you’ve been given this particular privilege), but you shouldn’t take advantage of that just because you can. Have some shame! :))

* A Dizi is a traditional stoneware pot where Iranians make the legendary ’Abgoosht’ stew in it.
