It's acknowledged that Leaf still talks about Wren in the present tense after thinking she's been dead for A YEAR. He can hardly go a page without thinking about her....

The irony of this bit KILLS ME. We the audience already know who's to blame, and really, nearly everyone in this story does. It's only Leaf who doesn't....

Leaf apparently tried to keep a pet kitten once, which is also mentioned to be to scale with humans even though that doesn't make sense. But now that I'm thinking about it, I remembered that I like to imagine Dragon (the cat) as being HUGE, like, bigger than a horse huge.
So now, I have the mental image of Leaf and Wren begging their (shitty) parents to let them keep a saint bernard sized kitten 👍
