#lead poisoning

I was looking to see if there was any recent news about the Flint water crisis, and it reminded me once again of the story I grew up on about my mother's cousin, who was intellectually disabled and would peel paint off the walls as a small child and eat it and was eventually sent to the state hospital and died there. And I think my generation was the first to make the connection that it was the other way around, that it was almost certainly eating the (lead) paint that caused his disability and eventual death.
