garsantos multichapter fic in progress (1/4)
yolanda needs a fake girlfriend for her cousin's wedding, and runs into the perfect person for the job at the rehearsal dinner
"You would do this for a complete stranger?" Yolanda asks, frowning in confusion.
In what world does she find a beautiful, intelligent stranger not only willing to play along with her lie for ten minutes to avoid embarrassment, but who actually wants to keep up the ruse for another full day? Did she somehow step through the looking glass when she arrived in Baltimore?
Trinity shrugs. "Well, yeah. It seems fun. Or like I'll at least get a good story out of it. Like, Hey, one time I pretended to date this stranger I met in a hotel and met her whole family at a wedding, it was wild."
"Are you absolutely serious?"
"I mean, I'll workshop it a bit. But yeah."
"No, about doing this."
"Yeah,â Trinity says with a wild grin. âIf you want me."
Yolanda nods. This could work. "I do."

This Ainât A Dream | MakoShinji
March 5th, 2010,
Gekkoukan High rooftop.
With everyoneâs combined efforts and Makotoâs own sacrifice in the end, Nyx was defeated. He thought that he wouldnât wake up again, and yet he did, every day, his strength to do anything slowly leaving his body. It was a tough battle. He prevailed to see his friends again.
Today, it was the day they all promised to meet up, should they survive the final battle. With a lot of effort and help from Aigis, he made it up to the roof. The sunlight hitting his eyes made him squint as he slowly sat down on one of the benches and let out a deep sigh.
âSo tired...â He mumbled to himself. Thinking back on it, he had a pretty fun year, making new friends after being closed off on emotions and afraid of getting hurt. He even managed to win his senpai, Shinjiroâs heart, eventually. He liked listening to him talk about his past, seeing him smile whenever they went out on dates. Movies, dinner, the arcade or even just cuddling on his bed in silence. He had everything he could ask for.
October 4th is a date heâd never forget. The day Shinjiro was shot, Makoto thought his whole world was crumbling. For the first time ever, he stared at the blood on his coat, hearing him cough up. He was lost and didnât know what else to do but hold him... and cry. His shell broke in that single moment as he let the tears fall. He remembered how hard he begged for him to not leave him while the rest of the group were too shocked to do anything but stare in silence. Ken was the only one who broke it with his wails and screams, not wanting this to happen and blaming himself for it. Mitsuru called for a doctor and an ambulance arrived, taking him in.
Then they were told that he fell into a coma and he was hooked to a machine to keep him alive and breathing. The doctors couldnât tell if he would wake up or not, which made Makoto fall back into his old habits of keeping to himself and not care about anything and anyone.
Now, he heard from a girl in his class that he had miraculously recovered and would eventually go back to school. She said that he had something in his breast pocket that saved him from the last bullet. Makoto knew exactly what that was: the pocket watch he had given him before he confessed his feelings to him.
All of that made him smile and close his eyes for a moment. He was startled awake by the doors slamming open, and as he turned his head towards them, there he was, running towards him.
âShinji...â The Fool muttered, a relieved smile curling on his lips.
âD-donât make a sick guy run so much...â The older male panted heavily as he coughed into his arm. He still needed time to recover, but didnât care at all. âMakoto...â He proceeded to sit down next to him so that the other could lean on him, an arm wrapped around his waist.
âÎ missed you so much... you donât know how long Iâve waited for you...â Makoto replied with a small hum. It felt good to be with him again.
âI missed you too.â The Moon smiled warmly and planted a soft kiss in his blue hair. He could be as affectionate as he wanted when they were alone. âYâknow, itâs pretty pathetic of me to forget the way I did...â
âHuh?â
âBut even then, my feelings for you were the same as always...â He continued, holding him close and chuckled. âIâve got one thick skull, huh?â
â...What are you talkinâ about?â He asked, curious as he looked up at the other, their eyes meeting.
âThe boy- no, the person I saw in my dreams... it was you...â His smile widened, rough hands cupping the Foolâs face. âYou were eatinâ and laughinâ like usual.â He laughed and embraced him tightly.
Now he realized how weak he was getting. His strength was greater than he recalled. Despite that small wince escaping his lips, Makoto allowed it and nuzzled his head into his coat, accepting its warmth and listening to his beating heart. He had no idea people in comas could have dreams. Even so, he was happy that he meant so much to him.
âYeah... this ainât a dream...â The brunetâs voice grew quieter as he slowly loosened his grip on his boyfriend. âYouâre really here... with me.â That said, he finally did what he meant to do for a while now and locked their lips together into a long kiss. He wanted to feel him again, to make him feel truly alive.
He had missed this so much. The blue-haired Fool slowly wrapped his arms around his waist as he let out a soft hum and smiled, returning the kiss.
As happy as they both were, the sound of running footsteps and several voices drawing near made you both pull away. Shinjiro laughed, half amused by this. âMan, those guys sure know how to ruin a moment...â
In the warmth of the spring sunlight and his loved oneâs arms, Makotoâs eyes were getting heavier and sleepier, unable to say a word to him. He could only hear his breathing slow down every passing second.
Eventually... he closed his eyes...
â...Makoto?â His voice was fading away. âIâm glad I met you. I love you...â
...And he died in his loverâs arms.
I Couldnât Be More In Love (Becca x MC)
Pairing: Becca x MC (Paris)
Authorâs Note: Requested by @kennaxval Valentines prompt 9. âMeant to beâ. This turned loger than I expected akdbdk. Set around the wedding since yeah I COULDâT HELP IT. Hope you enjoy!
Summary: The big day is finally here and Becca canât wait to give her speech. That is, if she remembers it.
ââ
There was just one way to describe Becca today.
She was the happiest woman right now.
Aside Paris, she hoped.
Her wife.
Wow.
They were married for real. She was Parisâ wife and Becca was hers.
A dream come true.
Before, marriage and starting a family werenât really on Beccaâs plans. She didnât put much thought on it. That is, until her relationship with Paris got serious. Suddenly having a kid with her wifeâs heart, creativity and her own smarts and sense of personal majesty didnât sound crazy at all. But that step was still some time away, for now, sheâd enjoy the rest of one of the most important moments in her life.
Becca right arm was very comfortable around Parisâ shoulders as they sat, drank and chatted with their friends, her fingers laced with her wifeâs.
Unconsciously, the blondeâs eyes trailed down to the golden band on her free hand, the golden band on her ring shining with the lighting from the place as she lifted her head and looked around. Madison had definitely outdone herself. Beccaâs best friend offered to organize the venue for the wedding and knowing how capable Madison was (and how much she actually knew them) the couple accepted in a heartbeat.
The venue was in a garden. The thin structure of a wooden house lifting in place a series of yellow string lights as well as many decorations made of fallen branches in the form small spheres lit by the same lights. The tables were squared and round, the beige linen being the only decoration on them aside the centerpiece made of a small arrangement of flowers as well as candles. All the dark from the wood contrasted perfectly with the green of the grass along the deco, and in the center, a big enough dance floor for everyone to party, excluding the small scenario on the front where the band seemed to be having a good time of course.
It had been a small gathering, just 150 people. Okay... maybe not âthatâ small but it was all their parentsâ fault. Becca had a list with originally 70 people she and Paris thought much about but apparently inviting EVERYONE was required. They were lucky they could cut it at 150.
Out of nowhere she felt a finger tap her shoulder. âAs the best man of both and mc tonight itâs my duty to tell you Iâll be giving my speech now and youâre nextâ. Zack said, a big smile on his face.
Beccaâs eyes widened. âYouâre kidding? Right now?â.
âYeahâ. He shrugged, his brows frowning in confusion almost immediately. âWhy? Is there a problem?â.
âIf you forgot I, of all people forgot my vows hours ago then yes, we have a situationâ. Becca whispered, not wanting to attract Parisâ attention.
âDonât worry Becca. Weâve been practicing your speech for weeks! Iâm sure youâll do just fineâ. Kaitlyn leaned on her right side, joining the conversation. âYou even made me tear upâ. The singer chuckled. âAaand... I kind of have an emergency plan. Just in caseâ.
Kaitlyn leaned back and took her purse, taking out a small paper sheet. âI printed both your vows and speech if you needed to rehearse once again but if youâre too nervous, why donât you take them with you?â.
âYouâre telling me you had this with you all the time and you just stood there and watched me make a fool of myself at the ceremony?â.
âDonât be so dramatic!â. Zack interrupted. âYou were perfect. Did you see Parisâ face? I think the only person who noticed was Kaitlyn because she was the one that helpedâ.
âSee? Donât worry about itâ. Kaitlyn said.
âAre you sure it has to be right now?â. Becca threw her head back and sighed.
âWhat happened with the âI cant wait to give my speech. You bet Paris will be crying by the end of it!â. Kaitlyn smirked, high fiving Zack as they both laughed at their friend. âAnywayâ. Zack took a deep breath, steadying himself. âAs you said, there IS a program so-â.
âWhy are you two laughing at my wife?â. Beccaâs scowl turned into a grin as the three turned to Paris, who looked at them with raised brows yet a smile on her face.
âUh, nothingâ.
âYeah, sureâ.
âI should get going now. Get ready blondie!â. And with that Zack was gone, walking to the center of the place.
âWhat was that?â. Paris asked, caressing Beccaâs knuckles.
âOh. Just speech timeâ.
âNiceeee. Are you ready to be crushed by my speech Mrs. Davenport?â. Paris smiled teasingly, leaning close to Beccaâs face.
âYou do know who youâre talking to right?â. Paris shrugged. âYouâre on then, Mrs. Davenportâ. Becca grinned, leaning in to leave a sweet and long kiss to her wifeâs lips. (Oh god, she shouldnât have bragged so much).
âI donât think Iâll ever get tired of hearing thatâ.
âGet a room you two!â. Zackâs voice could be heard around all the place, pulling them from their moment. âOkay, now that Iâve got everyoneâs attention-â. Parisâ best friend waited until in fact, everyone was looking at him.
âGood, now. As Paris and Beccaâs best man and mc for the night I thought itâd be good if I started with the speeches myselfâ. Paris moved closer to Becca, leaning her head on her shoulder as Zack turned directly to them. âNow, if someone had told me two and a half years ago weâd be standing here I probably wouldâve found it hard to believe. But things happen, these two ended up together! And I couldnât be happier for themâ. Everyone laughed. âParis is-â
Zackâs speech was great. It wasnât great, it was amazing! It even helped Becca relax a little bit but before she noticed, it was already over as everyone was lifting their cups.
âSo please ladies and gentlemen, raise your cups in a toast for the newlyweds!â. The guests did as they were told, waiting for Zack to end. âCongratz guys. If Paris was already the mom friend then Becca is officially our Dad!â.
âUghâ. Becca rolled her eyes, containing the smile that attempted to break out on her face.
Zack motioned to the stage, waiting to give her the mic. âThe stage is yours our favorite Kappa queen, please give a round of applause for Becca!â.
âHere I goâ. Becca drank half of her champagne down, kissing Paris one last time and hearing a âmake me proudâ from Kaitlyn before walking to her friend, the paper sheet forgotten behind her. She was gonna do this right.
She reharsed a lot. It would go perfect, right?
As she accepted the mic she hit Zackâs arm playfully, turning to the front and making eye contact with Paris. The brunette wore the biggest smile Becca had seen in her all day, and that was saying much. Paris had been smiling since she woke up (or so she heard, Abby had prohibited the brides to see each other before time).
Suddenly Becca found herself breathless, her mind forgetting everything else but her brideâs expression. Paris was so, so beautiful. âWow...â. Becca didnât notice she had said that to the mic, earning laughs from the crowd yet again as Paris tilted her head, grin in place.
The blonde did her best to look into her mind but there was nothing. Screw it, sheâd improvise. Back at the ceremony because all the exitement she forgot her vows and Zack said no one noticed. So if she improvised once she could do it again.
Becca shrugged, lifting the mic to her lips again. âSo, for everyone who doesent know Paris and I went basically from enemies to loversâ. She chuckled. âThe day of the dance at the end of freshman year something happened between us. Paris wasnât in the best place and so was I so it served as a distraction from everything. But as morning came and we parted ways I found myself thinking about her quite constantly. Then during summer break the Aurora festival happened and she invited me. By the end of it imagine my surprise realizing I was opening up to someone and that someone was my nemesisâ. Paris actually laughed out loud.
âBy Paris being my nemesis I mean I literally threw a coffee at her the first time we met and made my best to make freshman the worst for herâ. Becca grimaced. âNot my best move definitely. When I first saw her I actually thought she was beautiful so I mightâve been mean because I didnât know how to express myself or what to feel. Iâm still sorry about that by the wayâ. Even at a distance, Becca could see her wife will her eyes.
âIt wasnât until the start of sophomore that we bumped into each other by accident. f I was in a bad place before summer then I was even worse. I can say I was a total bitch to everyone-â.
âNot gonna stop you Beccs!â. Kaitlyn interrupted, giggling right after.
âOh shut up!â. Becca snorted. âAs I was saying, I was a total bitch but Paris didnât care and didnât give up. She helped me through it like no one did, she cared. And our âthingâ turned more serious and serious. Now that I think about it, I canât believe we dated in secret almost 8 months!â. Becca shook her head. âAnyway, the moment we told everyone I felt so relieved because I was finally able to call you my girlfriend in front of everybodyâ. She emphasized that word.
âLike any relationship we had our ups and downs, specially when we moved together in Junior year. We used to fight over the smallest things but I guess that made us stick together and straighten our relationship. No matter how irritating I could be you were there still. But when you were in senior year, the time we broke up... I felt so lost. I realized so, so many things. Even if I had a place in the university I wanted, even if I was about to start a new phase in my life, I couldnât care about it. I wasnât happy because you werenât there with me. I was too focused on myself when I shouldâve focused on us. So I decided to take the first flight to London I found and go to your placeâ. Paris was still smiling, but it was a small smile, listening attentively to Beccaâs speech.
âThe moment we got back together it was as if all color in my life returned. I was so happy were were together again. Not that I didnât know it before but, it just helped me reassure you Paris... are the love of my life. So I just knew I had to propose. When you said yes I felt like my chest was about to explode, I even cried and you know that doesnât happen oftenâ. Paris shook her head slowly, her eyes starting to water. âAnd now that I finally get to call you my wife, it feels surreal. People say thereâs a reason why things happen, you know? And you and I babe were meant to beâ. Becca grinned, a tear drop falling from her right eye. âI canât wait to start our life together in New Yorkâ. Parisâ tears were flowing now.
âSo I want to make a toast in honor of my beautiful wifeâ. Becca raised her cup. âI couldnât be more in love. For you babe, for usâ.
âCHEERS!â.
Paris stood up, walking towards Becca in a quick step before pulling her in for a kiss, holding her face as Beccaâs arms encircled her waist. âI love you Beccaâ. Paris smiled, looking up through watery eyes.
âI love you too, wifeâ.

Do you make any changes to your fics/chapters after they've been posted on AO3?
Yes - I rewrite/change entire paragraphs or chapters
Yes - I make minor edits (replacing/removing a word, rephrasing a sentence)
Yes - but only to correct typos or other errors
No - once the text is posted, it is set in stone forever
I don't write fic/results button
This is something I'm so curious about; I reread my own fics constantly, and somewhat frequently I will pause my reading to edit the chapter I'm on - little things like deleting an extra/redundant word, or rewriting part of a sentence that I was happy with at the time of posting but which now reads weird, or very occasionally reordering a couple paragraphs so they flow better. I'm wondering if other fic writers also do this?
Also, fic readers: is this something you ever notice when re-reading a story? How do you feel about it?
You ever just impulse buy a typewriter from 1948 to write fanfiction on
