Skills I've learned for the sake of a fic or book (so far):
• Sign language. I've got two mute and one Deaf OC and i plan on describing the signs beyond "they signed this". Plus, really cool to do on cosplay.
• Entire timelines of historical events like the Byzantine empire's rise and falland the invasion of Cyprus.
• Traditional Greek dancing (still have not learned the pentozali, which is both difficult to learn and also Really Fucking Cool and perfect for my OC).
• Poi spinning moves that'd work in combat (yes the maōri used them both for combat training and dancing, depending on whether it was heavyweight or lightweight), which is funny cause the only moves I've been knowing have all been dance/flow related and i learned them cause the visual aspect looked cool to my autistic brain, so i have to make up new ones for the sake of my OC being able to functionally use them in combat.
• Survival skills like foraging. Will i ever apply them, no, but i know which plants provide as much sustenance as bread now.
• Polari. I still have an inactive tab of the glossary on somewhere in my Google.
• Football basics. I'm bad at it, but my OCs are good at it so yes, i will be the goalie at the friendly cousin match so i can describe the experience accurately.
• Cross stitch. That's actually a skill I've been knowing before my book, but it's only now that I'm realizing the potential of that skill considering it's kinda mandatory for some of my OCs to know it. 10/10 i can turn this into actual art for the book if i want to.
• Drawing. I'm getting the itch to draw the OCs and i have no skills and no practice so i give up most of the time but i have some semi decent ones i got to finish using myself as a reference.
That's it for now but I'm sure the next insane project of mine will require me to pick up more skills (I'm kinda obsessed with getting things right and therefore having at least some personal experience, even if I'm bad at it just so i can describe what it's supposed to be like when someone more talented than me does it).
So... my tomodachi game got corrupted... and now me and the girlfriend have lost all the progress we had gotten in the past 3 months.... yippeeeeeeeeeee
I'm so tired of Ninty and their bs updates man...
after catching up with all the controversy regarding the quote unquote new asexual flag and seeing how it centers mostly to how usamericans view interculturalism and race, and how loveless or romance unlabeled aces are excluded from it (confirmed by the creator themselves and they seem to also be an exclusionist of loveless aces, making bold claims that there's no such thing as loveless aces but aces averse to the "western definition of romantic love" (whatever that means)), I'll proceed to name this new flag the Usamerican asexual flag and keep using the old one.
If this pisses someone off, sorry not really sorry. I'm an adult with responsibilities, a job, and loveless ace friends that I value more than whatever someone from the us may think of me or them for not feeling love.
So, i know a bit of ASL and a lot of Greek sign language, as I've established a lot on here, and I've noticed so many similarities and differences between the two, so here's a list of everything I've noticed:
Our alphabets are super fucking similar.
Example:
American
Greek
Certain words have the exact same meanings, for example, the ASL sign for water is the same in ΕΝΓ, and so is the sign for heart (with a very slight difference in finger placement)
ASL is methodical, while ΕΝΓ is expressive. 50% of ΕΝΓ can be made up on the spot if it's understandable. You can tell a whole story based on vibes, if you know how to structure your signing together. We're generally told to either explain the unknown concept with signs we know (like "girl", "child", "play", and even "small human" for "doll") or straight up make up a sign right then and there (like mimicking a movement they make or describing appearance).
In ASL, you're encouraged to fingerspell a word you don't know, so the communication can stay clear and understandable. Signs are made up, but usually that's only a thing an advanced learner or a Deaf person can do. It's a lot less miming and a lot more precision.
In both sign languages, you don't mouth the full words. There's either a specific face for said word or you cut the word in half and only mouth the beginning or the end of it.
In both sign languages, expression matters. It's your intonation, so you gotta get it right. Part of learning both is looking at expression charts for hours and copying the one associated with each emotion, sign, and intention.
The grammar is nearly identical. In ΕΝΓ, when you're describing actions, for example, the structure is:
1. Object
2. Verb
3. Subject
And while grammar is a lot more complicated than that, ASL and ΕΝΓ share the same fundamentals.
In both sign languages, a sign name can only be given to you by a Deaf person. I think that's just a common Deaf culture thing everywhere. I got mine five months in by my Deaf teacher, but when i wanted to name my OCs, i had to get them named by a friend of mine who's Deaf.
That's all for now, but there will be way more soon, as i keep learning stuff so i guess tune in.

I hate the fact that trans men are expected to shrink their personalities down to "pass".
I hate how we're told we're "infringing" on spaces that we grew up in because we no longer identify as female.
I hate how our healthcare is "taboo"
I hate how we're being seen as either confused little girls incapable of making an educated decision or monsters for willingly choosing masculinity.
I hate how we can't have our own spaces without someone dragging us through the mud for it.
I hate how we get hyperfeminized when we act with genuine compassion and love (as if you can't be masculine and empathetic or considerate)
I hate how they've robbed the joy out of my masculinity.
Tw: vent post
I am so angry. And it's so liberating. When i was a kid, i was getting brutally abused by my peers. I was told to talk to a trusted adult if i felt threatened. I did. She said they'd stop hitting me if i stop giving them a reason to. I figured she was right. I didn't talk about it again. I vowed to improve myself, as if there was really something to improve. It happened again. And again, and again, right in front of those people's eyes. They said nothing. They talked to us about bullying and the bystander effect and then they went on and saw their student getting excluded and bullied and hit right in front of their eyes, and they, the mandated reporters, did nothing but blame it on a 7 year old. When i was 10, i threw a desk at a classmate that kept tormenting me during a geography test. They called my mom immediately to report my "violent behaviour" that "came out of nowhere". Back then, i said sorry. Today, i say fuck them.
Welcome to the smack!
(fun fact: a smack is the term for a big group of jellyfish!)
It is i, your local jellyfish! Here are some facts about me because i suck at intros!
My name's Eddi. It used to be the name of a character in the book i write, who was heavily inspired by me. In the end, i stole the name for myself and gave him a new one.
You can also call me by any of my kin names (new and updated kin list)
I'm transmasc, and my pronouns are he/they.
I'm alterhuman, as my posts will clearly reflect. Specifically, I'm a fictionkin.
I have le autism, excuse any and all cringe.
I'm in too many fandoms for my own good.
I actually write fanfiction! Drop ur requests!
I'm a hellenic polytheist, and I don't mind sharing stuff about my practice or general tips for the new helpols.
I'm writing a book! Here's chapter one:
I made a writing sideblog! @the-jellyfish-writes
What to expect from this blog:
I might post seven times a day or go silent for entire weeks.
This blog will be inconsistent as fuck. My interests drive me. I will keep the jellyfish theme, though.
A lot of ranting. Like, so much of it.
I block freely.
