Look… if I can’t laugh, I can’t cope. If I can’t cope, I can’t heal. I’ve seen people on the edge of death still make jokes and smile, I’m not even close to that yet. When my uncle Ernie was sick, while getting him ready for the hospital, he joked with me saying he’s gonna need a side car for his motorcycle so Jose and Niko can take turns and drive him. I told him shut up Tio, and we smiled. I remember when my Tio Dan was sick, and at my cousins wedding I remember telling him, “you looks so handsome in your suit Tio!” He smiled and said, ‘Thank you my Leenie weenie. Next time you’ll see me in this suit I’ll be like this in my casket.” He then closed his eyes and crossed his arms like Dracula in a coffin and I couldn’t help but giggle and then say, “Tio don’t say that!” He smiled at me hugged me and said, “don’t worry baby, we’ll all be okay.” So I joke and say stupid shit, just like my Tio’s did. So god forbid anything happens, y’all can say, Leenie was still her crazy ass self til the end. We don’t know what’s gonna happen, maybe I’ll survive, maybe I won’t. But that’s life right?! From one day to the next we never know if we’re gonna wake up or be here. Just know no matter what, it’ll be okay. I love you guys.
