Could you write Jason Todd x Fem!Reader where they're both at Gotham University and they're academic rivals please <33
I ABANDONED THIS ACCOUNT FOR A YEAR BUT I'M BACK AND I'VE COME WITH A PROOF READER WE ARE NOT RAW DOGGING POSTS ANYMORE !!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE YOU'RE ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _ Two intelligent people would never fall in love. It was a stupid quote to Jason. How would you even measure intelligence? Also, heās met plenty of smart people. You think they'd all fall in love with an idiot? He couldnāt imagine falling in love with someone whoād barely understand him.
But at 14, begging the ultimate detective to let him quit his life as Robin and attend high school, albeit Bruce chose a private academy, and locking eyes with you in a homeroom classā¦you made him feel like seeing all seven wonders of the world would be a bore compared to just staring at you.
When he scored at the top in both of yalls' classes that semester, tying with you, he saw a flame in your eyes. Like you needed to prove something. Not to anyone, but to yourself.
Jason was an asshole, though. Never meant to be, but his life before Bruce, his life at home, and who he could one day be, he never imagined he would want a civilian, especially when he convinced himself as a teenager that thereās no point obsessing over a girl he wonāt see after he graduates. Even if you were the melody that replayed in his mind when he asked himself if heās deserving of his place in life.
Snide remarks he made with the ones who left you alone at school, saying you tried too hard to make some friends, hoping maybe youād be easier on yourself. Unaware, it only pushed you deeper into the trap of needing to succeed.
But when he missed a question one day on a science quiz when y'all were 15, and you were at the top again without him, he swore the smug grin on you couldāve convinced him to be a robin again. He wanted to see that smile every second. He wanted that smile to replay in his mind on his deathbed.
So, if he couldnāt man up to apologize, if he couldnāt find it in him to understand the excuse āI canāt be hers because of my bullshitā was a weaker āreasoningā than a toddler lies, he could at least force that smile out. He missed a question now and then, asked something stupid, pissed you off, anything, so when you won against him, that smile was branded into his mind and he could sleep peacefully that night. When you gave him a shit-eating grin as a valedictorian, he couldnāt have cared less. He got front row seats to one of the most beautiful souls he has yet to know.
You were hypnotic, from the way you spoke, to the way you held yourself, down to the way your leg bounced when you heard something exciting. He wanted to feel your breath on his skin, especially when the flowers in his chest bloomed when you saw him at Gotham University for the first time. You told him to eat shit, and Lord if you were the moon, he wouldāve decided the sun isnāt even worth being outside for, if he couldnāt even get a glimpse of you.
"I would just feel bad if someone else in our class had to work with you. Least I know you,ā heād say, as if he hadnāt jumped at the idea of working on a group project with you. Youād roll your eyes, and for a second, he swore he saw your soul, and he knew that soul was a home. A home he wanted to take care of for you, if youād ever let him. If he can man up for you.
When the library went empty, when the rest of the team went home because āyou two got itā, since nobody in a group project can hold their weight, not that Jason minds, he caught you tired. He caught you opening up to him. He caught bits and pieces of the key he could weld together to open your lock.
And when āEat shit, Jasonā became āHey Toddā, all the Lord heard every Sunday was a prayer that he wishes to become even more of a madman for you. When group projects became hanging out, when internship trips together turned into listening to you rant about whatever TV show made you go insane because of how āstupidā each person could be while y'all were in a shitty motel room, and your coworkers started recognizing him, Jason found Gotham to glow brighter night by night.
He almost begged you to come along with him for his summer plans. He wanted to introduce you to some of his friends at the beach, enjoy decent weather for once, and not the depressing fog Gotham was accustomed to. When everyone left though, and the jellyfish were little spots of light in the dark ocean, whispers of an apology left Jasonās lips for how he used to treat you, for not doing any of this sooner, and soon, were then slotted against yours. His worries, his anxieties, he was giving you everything you needed for his lock, if you ever wanted to create the key.
Rides to the beach on his bike became synonymous with apologies because, God, heād rather lose you to a better man than even let a pout come to your face now that heās committed, and promised, to never let you feel hurt again because of him. To atone for his childish and hurt mind as a teenager.
He saw you everywhere. In the stray kitten rubbing against his ankle, in the stained windows at church, in the gems encased in the jewelry you treasure dearly, and in the mirror, he saw a man you chose.
Two intelligent people canāt fall in love. So heāll go crazy for you. Heāll go crazy until heās a senile old man and telling the nurses that he canāt wait to take care of his wife for eternity in heaven.
