Weary Herakles (Farnese Hercules) based on a bronze statue of ca. 320 BCE by Lysippos

The ceramic Mayan statue seen above comes from the late classical period and depicts a male figure with his arms raised. While it may not be obvious at first glance, this statue also has a practical function as it is also a whistle with “its mouth piece being the man’s anus.”
