Throwback to last week, when I was still 120% Queen of Darkness Mode - all vampire, no sparkles (unless you count the fridge light reflecting from the crusty remains of eye drops all over my face).😅
PRK.
I never gave another update after day 4. It's been...nearly 8 months since surgery. I used to have -7.5/8 glasses. My vision is now 20/15. I don't really experience any halos. My eyes have some dryness in the morning, but nothing unbearable and I pretty much never use drops. Sure, this was an investment. But it was well worth it.
In terms of healing, everything went really smooth for me. I really didn't experience much pain at all, and far less than I anticipated. Those cool packs were the best and I often just relaxed with them on. I took all drops exactly as directed, and weaned off my lubricating drops pretty quickly. My doctor says everything is healing fine, and I have no scaring.
This has been great for my day to day life. I see in a level of detail and clearness I never knew before surgery. I wake up and go. I can see when I shave in the shower (lol). I can wear whatever sunglasses I want whenever I want. I can go for a run or do yoga without any annoying glasses moving around my face. This was a great decision for me!
So yeah, I recommend eye surgery to whoever. It has been excellent for me. Life changing. And my eyes did not fall out of my head or anything.

I don't know what's worse, asking Doctor Google or reading package inserts... (maybe I should just skip the side-effects section?)
Hey everyone! Sorry for just disappearing into thin air for a while. Honestly, I didn't expect my absence to be necessary for quite that long (eternal optimist, I guess!). End of May, I had eye surgery (PRK/LASEK) and, unfortunately, my recovery from it hasn’t been as quick and smooth as I had hoped for. Thank Glob, I'm not in pain anymore, but I still see kinda blurry and reading small text and everything to do with screens is extremely exhausting for my eyes.
However, for doodly diary comics it really doesn't matter much if I see sharp or not, hehe. :D They are taking me longer than usual (because my eyes need breaks) but it feels so good to draw again!! It's such a kitschy klischee thing to say but it's true: you only properly value stuff once it's gone - and most things that bring me joy (drawing! tattooing! reading!...) require me to see well.
Also, if you're waiting for a response from me regarding a tattoo appointment or illustration job (and miraculously have read this far), please be patient. I've started replying to the most urgent emails but I can only work on stuff like that in small increments at a time for now (and with intense granny-mode zoom) ^^ Thank you!! <3
