2nd Cycle Olympic Gull

In the winter months, Glaucous-winged Gulls and hybrids replace most of their body feathers in a partial moult called the prealternate (prebreeding moult), which produces adultlike, greyish plumage:
Chart highlighting feathers replaced in this Olympic Gull's 2nd prealternate (prebreeding) moult. This individual will achieve adult (definitive) plumage in its 4th cycle--nearly halfway there.
I could stare at and appreciate this muted colour palette for minutes, if it were not for that unrelenting side eye telling me to move on. Time to let it drink runoff from the curb in peace.
