The series "Correspondences" on the theme of Charles Baudelaire's sonnet speaks of the relationship between man and nature, his ability to listen, the awakening of his senses which nevertheless lead him to understand how mysterious the messages of the latter still are. Every morning I get up at dawn, every morning I see the sun rise over the ocean and it is never the same. This morning for example, while the sky was overcast just at the edge of the coast, you could hear the bees busy on the coconut flowers, the wind was light and the strong heat of the southern summer was rising in the air. The birds were singing. It is these sensations, this perception of these intimate moments that I wanted to interpret in this painting, contrasting between the joy and the madness of the yellow of a new day, the calm, the serenity of a sky and a sea in a luminous blue and the passing of time in the bright reds and the deep blue of life.
