then in more recent years, i saw some blurbs and excerpts about his manifesto that spoke about how he was concerned with the destruction of society & environment brought on by this skewed modern life. “holy crap,” i thought, “i was led by proaganda to think he was nuts and bad, what the hell?”

and i realized i hadn’t actually read his manifesto and was curious, so i just looked into it.

i got a few pages in, and have concluded that yes, he was an unhinged crazy person. the dangerous kind. and not just because of the bombings.

here we have a moderately privileged white guy, who writes a manifesto and the entire opening is a rant about marginalized groups who are suffering and how they’re complaining that the terms people use for them aren’t nice, and even worse, privileged people who are vocal on their behalf. (remember all the sneering at “political correctness”? this guy does exactly that and is arguing that there was nothing bad or perjorative about words like “negro,” “broad/chick,” or “oriental,” it was just that these groups (who he doesn’t recognize as getting a permanent raw deal) decided to take offense for no reason whatsoever.)
