This is the continuation/finale of my Day of the Dead special, but this time, with La Muerte (Catrina) from Jorge R. Gutierrez, who is well know for being the creator of El Tigre, and yes, i love his version of Catrina, but decided to put my ideas and headcanons for her design too look more interesing.

The Twilight Gods, dwellers of the eternal night and creators of the earth and everything that inhabits it, chose the next sun from among them. The Sun of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water preceded our Sun, The Sun of Movement. This exhibition addresses the transformations that the Gods underwent during that first dawnfall. It is said that the rays of the fifth Sun were so powerful that they instantly petrified all the Gods who eagerly awaited him on the surface of the earth, their changing essence was enclosed in stone bodies.However, some managed to escape the devastating rays of light. The gods of death were in the depths of the underworld and it was they who were in charge of creating the new man. They took four seeds of corn, which they sowed and harvested with care in the humid earth and with them they created a man who at the end of his days should return to the earth that gave him life. With the help of their messengers they gave us the language of fire and their wisdom was passed down from generation to generation until today. Cada vez que sale esta carta en una tirada de Tarot os asustáis preguntando por el significado de esta carta de apariencia terrible. Pues bien, este saco de huesos no es que anuncie una muerte física (quizá en combinación con otras cartas y en relación a una pregunta concreta sí, pero no normalmente). Más bien, el arcano número XIII lo que anuncia es un cambio. La muerte es una transición de un estado a otro. Eso no quita una realidad: no todos los cambios son cómodos y muchos, inesperados. La carta de la muerte nos dice que no todo está sujeto a nuestro control y que existen factores de los que no podemos huir.
