album review: the emancipation of mimi

after making the breakthrough that its basically women who control music now in most genres, i thought id get into mariah carey especially hearing her latest album(thanks to the rndm redditor who told me to start w this album), and tbh this album fits the high standard everyone holds for her. mariahs 10th studio album, regarded by loads of fans that its her magnum opus, this album also talks a whole lot about her liberation; hence the name "emancipation of mimi". this album honestly showcases mariahs vocals in the most beautiful way possible, as well as the production w this album was amazing. however, w this album the features really kill the songs , for example in the intro track "its like tha that" the features jermaine dupri and fatman scoop, they kill the song, like its them js rapping or doing their thing or wtvr and then mariah outshines them, same w the other features; nelly and snoop dogg. honestly imo it sucks that ppl only know mariah off the christmas songs(thanks for nothing eminem), overall its a really good album, i couldnt have asked for a better introduction to mariah.
