Hello from the Vennel Viewpoint in Edinburgh, Scotland! This spot features a picturesque staircase that is rewarded with an amazing view of Edinburgh Castle. There are no cars allowed, but thank goodness Freyja is tiny so we could park here and enjoy the view for a bit. No, I did not wheelie up the stairs 😹 We came the back way from Flodden Wall 😺 Happy Monday! Merry Christmas Everyone!🎄Are you ready for a story of how this man made me cry? I’m rain riding in the dark & I finally find my hostel. No one answered my calls earlier in the day to check if they were open in December, so I just show up at the door. This man greets me & informs me they are no longer open to the public, but instead now house Ukrainian refugees. I ask if I can just use their internet to find a place to stay. He says of course & offers me coffee or tea, a seat, encourages me to sit down & relax. Okay Crystal, let’s receive kindness when I’m depleted. As I’m looking for a place to stay, he asks if I’m hungry. It’s 5pm, in my head, of course I am, I haven’t eaten all day & have been out riding, but I don’t want to inconvenience them even more. He sees my hesitation & says, I will make you something good. A woman brings out two sandwiches for me. 🥺 They leave & a different man offers me fresh coffee he just made. I decline since I have my tea & he proceeds to give me chocolate 🥺 I’m finishing my sandwiches & the first man sees I’m about to leave, & asks if I’m sure I have a place to stay because if I don’t, they have space for me for one night. I told him I found a place & you know what he does? He brings me a bag full of fruit for me to take on my journey. What. This is where I lost it. Here come the tears. They are uncontrollable. Why did I start crying? These people had to flee their country, have nothing, & yet they still give. What does that say about them? I learned this man is Palestinian & married a Ukrainian woman and have a daughter. The generosity of these people is so intense. I ask him how do I ever thank you? He says just say thank you & that God brings good people to good people. His name is Nazer. Thank you for taking care of this dirty biker. Merry Christmas All.
