Day 3: a mother of pearl inlaid lacquer box
A traditional lacquer box made within South Korea sporting a bat motif. Bats are traditionally symbols of good luck within both China and Korea, making this a very fortuitous little box indeed and also appropriate for a courting hoard as it will harmonize nicely with both the eastern dragonโs association with luck and power, but also flight.
Inlaid with mother of pearl and lacquered black, this little box is a gorgeous addition to any hoard, but especially one focused on gaining draconic attention. As a traditional gem stone, a pearly shine is always a welcome addition to any hoard.
I received this little box as a gift from my father some years ago after he came back from a trip to South Korea. Fortunately, he knows me well.
