A spooky collab between myself and @miskiart
whumpee who's been a lab experiment and has several non-human features to best optimize their intended purpose. could be a living weapon, or could be just a genetical engineering subject.
they are forced to go through painful maintenance of these features that they never asked for.
claws? they get grinded down to bloody stumps lest they start rotting and cause gangrene to set in.
fangs? removed periodically or else there's a high risk that they cause permanent damage to their mouth cavity. and everytime the whumper needs to run experiments involving them, they have to go through the agonizing cycle of regrowing them— aided by specific drugs. bonus points if whumpee begs the whumper to not de-fang them until the last possible moment, and they agree because that will only prolong the pain.
wings? groomed painfully— plucking out all the feathers set wrong, applying unnecessary force on the delicate bones and brushing through the spread using combs with teeth too sharp. bonus points if during molting whumper doesn't provide any help whatsoever and whumpee has to go through excruciating pain all on their own.
this is absolutely horrible, their instincts are screeching at them to stop stop stop the whumper and even if they didn't ask for these modifications, they are a part of them now— and this feels like a violation rooted in the most vulnerable parts of them.

with Polonium being created out of an experiment titled "living weapon - PO-210", his early life (you could call it childhood but...) usually consisted of tests, upgrades, and training from the moment he could transform.
all in all, he was truly a defunct lab rat that was still hanging on to life. he wasn't fit to live at all, not with that unstable spark of his, no matter how many stabilizers and modifications were added onto him...
out of his three technical creators (Megatron, Starscream, Shockwave) surprisingly Shockwave was the one who felt more like a proper caretaker than the others to Polonium (at that stage of life); Megatron was more like a commander/military parent than anything else with Polonium. while Starscream more-so warmed up to him a little later in life, especially during flights.
