Levi’s eyes soften, the words that leave his lips sounding hollow even as he attempts to believe them, “The war is over, Eren.”

It’s been three years after the war, three years since Paradis became free–they had healed. On the surface at the very least, but the aftermath of war still lingers and for the heroes of war–where does that leave them? Somewhere between the debris of wondering what came next and falling into a broken routine was all they could do to keep going.

*nudges the tissue box into the middle of the table nonetheless*

The sky blushes in a pale dove grey when Eren stands at the waterline, frowning at his wave-wettened ankles. He stripped off his boots, wanting to feel the sand and water on his feet for the last time.

His tent is rolled up and stowed away. His bundle is packed. His tea cup cushioned carefully so it won’t break. Salka stands at his side. His comrades are scattered around. Eren’s spirit is already on its way.

Summary: Broken after the end of the war, Eren keeps his childhood promise to explore the world with Armin, mourning with every step Levi can’t follow.

“You still don’t look good,” Armin says. His eyes are fixed on the theodolite as he adjusts the objective to refocus on a spot ahead.

Rubbing his sore eyes, Eren sighs and wipes sweat out of his brow. It’s another too hot day, and the sunscreen they set up around their work station seems to trap the heat rather than shield them from it.

“You haven’t slept well for a while,” Armin says. “Or eaten enough.”

“Did Mikasa put you up to this?”

This chapter has accompanying artwork by my wonderful collaboration artist @l-leonhardt, and I still can’t express how thrilled I am she picked this of all scenes to draw. It’s been in my head since I started writing the original Sparrow almost 3 years ago, and it’s amazing to have it visualised, and this so very gorgeously. I love how the wind shows and how lonely Eren looks, how excited Armin, and how Mikasa’s shawl flaps behind her as Jean watches them all. 

At this point, I have no idea. Part of me thinks she will but the other part is wishing that pleaseee don’t let it happen! .... but my worst fear is that... by looking at this cover:

1.- Mikasa is the star of the cover (looking gorgeous and badass as always, god I love her) ... the way I see it is: HER being the most powerful and the one who is going to end all. not the titans, not other characters... HER!.

2.- You can see Jean, Connie, Gabi, etc. very small in the background. BUT Levi is the second most visible “Human” character. Now, this could mean two things (in my mind at least) 1- He is no longer humanity strongest and he is the second or down the list... which tbh I don't mind, just please don’t kill him. And 2- he is behind Mikasa because he will die and that would give Mikasa the Ackerboost and that will help Mikasa.... 

3.- That would help Mikasa.... to Kill Eren and save the world and she will be the savior... or “New Helos”

👁- series or oneshots?

So I only have one shots posted, but I have multiple in progress ideas for series I’m working for all Eren/Levi fics e.g. A reincarnation AU inspired by Rewrite the Stars, Post-war Canonverse amnesia fic (hoping to break hearts), a highschool AU, etc etc. I love series and would love to start posting one, but due to how slow I am, I just keep writing oneshots.

☕️- favorite passage

I’m indecisive, but from what I’ve actually posted, I think from Between the Debris:

Levi tastes like whiskey, smells like the subtle fragrance of tea leaves and feels like the gentle breeze of the ocean waves splashing against the shores as he stares off into the distance, that distance that is the blue hues of what was once his dreams.

Eren’s not inexperienced, he’s kissed his fair share of men back then, and again even after the war, but this time–for the first time–kissing Levi jolts something in him that he’d thought he’d long lost since the war ended. Kissing Levi feels like the last linger of lightning just before the storm is over, the last of something that Eren has chased after but could never reach.

✏️- favorite part about writing

That I can write what I can’t/don’t have in real life lol. Writing is my way to vent, so almost all of the time, my characters share a lot of characteristics with who I am or how I feel. Also because I’ve fallen in love so many times with stories that mean a lot to me, the thought that I can one day write something people can feel as strongly for is awesome even if I ultimately write for myself. ❤
