Still a crime we didn't get cat and mouse puns in Kwamibuster
Here's the thing about Kwamibuster. We often clown on Marinette's plan that involved wearing 17 Miraculous at once, and using 4 of them, and how overly complicated that was. And we often clown on Adrien's plan that involved calling the school an elementary school instead of a high school. But.
Each of their plans says infinitely less about the person who made it than the person it was made to trick.
Marinette knew that Chat is smart, and that if he suspected her of being Ladybug (which he did!) he'd need a lot convincing otherwise. Marinette knew that she needed to go all in and give undeniable proof that she could not be Ladybug, and so her plan needed to be so complicated — she didn't overcomplicate it for her sake, she overcomplicated for his. It just so happens that she has exactly the skill set to overcomplicate in the perfect way.
Likewise, Adrien's plan may seem simple, but he knew he didn't need a more complicated plan! Ladybug is incredibly trusting of him, and doesn't believe he'd lie to her — which, mostly, is true. He knew that her mind is torn 100 directions at once, and that she can't give too much energy to pursuing any one direction for too long, and that if he pushes it too hard she's more likely to think that something is out of the ordinary. And yeah, he's not exactly known for his complicated plans, which is probably a good thing, in this case.
The fact is that they have exactly the skill sets they need to lie to the other and they rarely use those skill sets and in conclusion I love they <3

how much of an over thinker Marinette is is really displayed well in kwamibuster. she devotes this whole elaborate plan to prove to chat she isn't ladybug and Adrien legit just says he thought it was an elementary school (even tho he was told it wasnt earlier in the episode lmao). like no thoughts behind his excuse, probably thought of it during the fight at some point, back of the head nothingness. while marinette plans a whole separate part of the plan just to use the fox miraculous for a mirage. that's so funny to me
