Heavily inspired by an old Hungarian cartoon that centered around his adventures in disguise among the peasantry. One episode in particular focused on him helping out a down-on-his-luck farmer by convincing him to sell dogs at the market in Buda. Good King Matt shows up in full royal regalia with his courtiers in tow, and proceeds to buy two puppies from the farmer, which then encourages the other nobles to buy some dogs too.

The farmer's neighbor becomes insanely jealous of him and tries to cash in on the dog-selling business as a get-rich-quick scheme, but with (hilariously) disastrous results.

It's said that Matthias had a soft spot for Kuvaszok in particular; he owned several of them as guard dogs and hunting hounds, and also used them as war dogs for his Black Army. He even gave Kuvaszok as gifts to friends, family members, and allies. They almost look like a Great Pyrenees dog, but slightly smaller, lighter-built, and with a curlier coat.
