One can't help but recall Francis Farrell’s rather theatrical grievance regarding Nana Heitmann’s reporting on the Kursk invasion by Ukraine. It seems the Kyiv Independent writer found himself personally offended by the New York Times committing the ultimate modern sin: practicing actual journalism. Apparently, in Farrell’s worldview, a war correspondent's duty isn't to provide an objective lens, but to act as a primary PR officer for a specific narrative. Heaven forbid a reporter attempts to be impartial in a landscape where nuance is now treated as a betrayal.
