Its so funny to me the names for clone shiro.
Because Shiro is japanese is white.
And some people call clone shiro kuro, which is black in japanese.
Some people call clone shiro kuron(i do this) because of the haggar experiment being called project kuron.
But also
It makes me giggle so bad.
Imagine if you had a near death experience after having the worst year of your life and you’re just trying to bond with your family but your head is killing you and you’ve been really moody recently (probably nothing) then you find out you’re a clone and your body gets commandeered by an alien witch who forces you to try and kill your brother and then you die AGAIN only for the guy you’re a clone of to get brought back to life and he gets to keep the body
Let’s see… Kuron with Arson + D8
And/or if you don’t mind, Rose Quartz with Kin list + C2?
First of all I am so sorry it took this long!! Secondly it was really fun!!! Thank you for sending the request!!! I hope you like both of them!!!
Thought of the night (as I've begun season 4): a facet of Kuron's mission could very well have been to drive Keith away from Voltron.
It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Keith's the only other person capable of piloting the Black Lion and thus leading Voltron. He's shown that he has the potential to be an effective leader, even though he started out with neither experience nor willingness to do so. He also knows Shiro better than anyone; if there was a single person on Team Voltron who could have realised something was off, it would have been Keith.
There's also one more point that's probably the most important: Keith is relentless. He understands the stakes of the war they're fighting better than any of the other Paladins, and he's been shown repeatedly to be able to play those stakes— it tends to be the others that prevent him from doing so (see him advocating for leaving Allura rather than delivering Voltron to Zarkon, or him pushing to chase Lotor rather than focus on evacuating refugees in 4.01). Had he grown and matured as Black Paladin, it would have spelled trouble for Haggar and the Empire, because that's the same kind of tactical ruthlessness you see in someone like Lotor, who is a pain in the ass to go up against.
Enter Kuron. Kuron who has the face and the voice and the memories of the person Keith trusts most in the universe. Kuron who's enough like Shiro that any differences will be brushed off.
Kuron whose differences from Shiro are absolutely devastating.
On the surface, it seems like Shiro! He encourages Keith to accept his position as Voltron's leader...except his actions don't reflect that. It's very manipulative in my eyes, how he simultaneously praises Keith's growth and puts him down. How he tells him that "Voltron needs a strong leader" but repeatedly undermines his strength by issuing orders that he knows the others will listen to over Keith's.
Kuron tells Keith he needs to be a strong leader while doing everything he can to make him seem a weaker one.
All of this comes to a head with Keith feeling like he doesn't have a place with Voltron, especially not as the Black Paladin, and definitely not once 'Shiro' can pilot Black again. Instead of being brought into his own as a leader, he's had his insecurities reinforced, and the only option he feels he has left is to leave for good, and taking with him the only person on Team Voltron who could have posed a legitimate threat to Kuron's infiltration.

He still has the little rock.
------------------------
“Yep. I picked it up on Kerberos.”
Keith blinks, surprised. His mouth falls open into a tiny ‘o’ and it takes him a few moments to respond.
“You… had it with you all that time?”
“Pretty much, yeah. I meant to give it to you long ago but you know, there was always something going on. And since we are traveling across the whole universe now, I guess ‘space rock’ did lose a lot of its coolness factor but- you did ask me to get you one, so.”
--
Shiro and his space pebble from Kerberos throughout it all until it finally finds it's way to where it was always supposed to go.
(Complete, weekly updates)
New, shorter chapter is up of my fanart inspired not so little story haha
Also tested the post generating share button on AO3 which is great!
thinking about voltron but like. how messed up is it that by the end of the series shiro was a clone.
like I'm going off this by memories but from what I remember shiro died. replaced by his clone (or kuron as we ogs called him) kuron activates. dies. but then not clone shiros soul goes into kurons body.
and like. that being said. shiros new body 100% has different scars as original did.
like maybe he had a scar on his leg from an incident with a stick as a kid, or a thin mark across his finger from cutting some food, yknow simple scars from memories of your childhood playing, then also sadder ones too, but he doesn't have them.
not to mention this new body has scars he doesn't know the origin from. the scar across his nose for example. we know how he originally got it. but how did this body get it? if we're going of this is an entirely new body he shouldn't have scars like this. there's marks all along his body surely from any experimentation the galra did to his body. we assume as viewers the glara removed kurons arm for the mechanised prosthetic (so does that mean og shiro had the same arm? that was the thing that activated kuron with the magic right? if shiro survived would he have become like kuron?)
then there's also a fear. was there more clones made. are they alive. what kind of people are they. do they think their team left them? we assume the clones must have some sort of need to go back to their teammates, kuron wouldn't have gotten to them if not.
also if we're assuming the amount of experimentation it too for the glara to remove the bodies original illness that would've killed him. how many died. what experiments did they go through before getting to kuron. did they try different human ages? is there a baby clone of shiro around?
just long sigh. I've not seen anyone question these things so I wonder.
